Chapter 14

Hannah

The house feels too empty now that it's only me and Beth . Not that it was fuller before but my mom's warmth made it seem that way .

I know she's only gone for a few days but I am not used to being separated from her that long and I miss her terribly much . Although Beth treats me like her child and spoils me like a child with goodies from her delicious food that I started gaining some weight . She always complains about how skinny me and mom are , especially me . Which is why she took opportunity of my mom's absence and my foot injury that prevented me from running away from her as I used to do before whenever she tried to make me eat more than I can handle .

However this new pounds I gained make me feel like a human instead of a skeleton hidden beneath large clothings . The clothes in my closet that wouldn't have fitted me before now look good on me , I feel more feminine even though my breast haven't grown much , however there is still a difference from how my body was sculpted before .

Still I am not very comfortable wearing tight or short and exposing clothes like that so I am still sticking to my oversized outfits no matter how much knowing that would annoy Paget .

I'm pretty sure she will try to convince me to wear them if she noticed the change in my body since she had been always trying to make me wear girly items but I always stated that they don't fit .

I don't have to worry about Paget since she hasn't shown up or called or at least picked up my calls . I have no idea what's with her and even Iker hasn't spoken about her much . She didn't show up at school either or even leave her house yet , and knowing how extroverted Paget actually is , her behavior doesn't make any sense . My suspicions only grow with time and I am not the curious type , but even though I hate to admit it I got used to her company . Now there is just me and Iker , and I don't like that as much as I am trying to show .

He's been very protective over me ever since the day he carried me on his shoulder inside the school , not aware of the man who was watching us with a glare that managed to almost shut down all of my system .

His brown eyes were about to burst in flames as he stared down at me and I defiantly held his gaze .

We both need to realise that this tension between us needs to seize from existence , mostly for his sake.

I sigh as I gather my books to head to the next period , which is a boring geography class . I roll my eyes at the reminder and close my locker , but when I take the first step I trip with some stick and and fall down on my stomach with a grunt , my books scatter around me while laughter bursts out from some really loud girls . I wince and look up as I lay on the floor on my stomach .

Selena Jarick !

And her little minions and slave boyfriend who put the cane in my way on purpose . He looks down at me with his mocking laughter . « Oops ... thought you could use a cane . »

He pulls his girlfriend to his side , she smirks devilishly down at me as she sips from her coffee . I glare up at both of them and try to sit down ready to get up .

« Hold on , don't get up yet let me help you . » Selena says as she approaches me and removes the lid of her coffee cup then pours it down on my foot . « I heard ice helps with strained ankles . » She says innocently before turning to her troupe who are still laughing . I fist my hands at my side and finally stand up . She takes a step towards me . « If you thought I forgot you , then you must not know who Selena Jarick is . » She looks me up and down . « I'm not about to let some bastard come and humiliate me in the school I am ruling . » She extends her hand and a girl rushes to her side and puts a napkin on her open hand . Selena hands it to me but I don't take it so she smiles and lets it drop to the floor before turning to walk away .
