There were these, little ,Light purple, Flowers
That grew in the mist of summers hours
In bundles plentiful petals bulled back
Where I saw the yellow honey bees go for a snack
They grew on branches in my neighbours backyard
And one stretched over so very far
Reaching out for a handshake a simple hello
Although I didn't even know their names
I truly loved them all the same
Curious a handful off the branch I pulled
And I realised, they smelled wonderful
And once a friend showed me something to remember
How to suck their sweet succulent centers
And nor did she know the name
But still I loved them all the same
Today I went out to my flowers
To see them bloom in springtime hours
Only to meet them hanging darkened limp dead
The branch cut, lay on my side of the fence
Dry leaves rustling with a sigh
As if to whisper a sullen good buy
For reasons unknown taken from me
Why do we destroy the beauty that we don't see?
And I mourned the angles fall
Although I didn't even know what they were called
Even in departure their sent haven't dulled
All the more sweet, all the more wonderful
Finally I learned what they are called
My precious flowers purple small
Occasionally I whisper their name
So they can grow back Devine all the same
Lilac Lilac, earliest love
Grow and thrive
It is not the end
Just because you've died
For true beauty
Can not stay buried in earth
In some time
With life you'll burst
For you are my Earliest love
