A/N: I will be posting one chapter every Wednesday for the month of May. I hope you all enjoy it!

Nia's POV:

"How long are you going to deny us?", a voice hissed from the warm darkness that held me close.

I didn't move, didn't react because that voice was my own but I knew I didn't speak. I must be asleep or have I gone mad?

"Ignoring me will only hurt us", my voice snapped with the sharp edge of frustration.

The fur of my wolf prickled against my right hand and my voice scoffs, "It's ridiculous how easily you accept this nameless wolf but not me"

My wolf growled deeply at those words and I sat up, turning my head in the direction of my voice, and shouted, "You. aren't. real!"

My own laughter filled the air, humorless and dark, "then I'll stop playing nice. I know how rough we like it. Time to push your limit"

I felt it reaching for my face and snapped my eyes open. Nothing was in front of me but darkness. The warm darkness.

My wolf licked my arm, "what is that? I never addressed it because you didn't. But I think we should talk about it"

I closed my eyes again and sighed deeply, "It's nothing"

"But", my wolf started only for the shadows to be sucked away revealing a familiar bedroom decorated with stars.

I turned my head in time to see the woman that calls herself my grandmother, wearing a fancy royal dress. Around her were seven women attending to her hair and make-up.

"Uhh, where?", my wolf started only for my grandmother's eyes to shoot over to us with a stern look that shut her up.

The look lasted no more than five seconds before my grandmother spoke, "Leave me for a moment"

"Yes, your radiance", the woman answered before rushing out of the room.

My Grandmother smiled once we were alone, "You've claimed a mate, I see. How beautiful"

She gestured to my wolf, before tilting her head slightly, "Let me see your hands please"

I offered her my hands as she walked over to me, looking down at them with a frown, "I spoke too soon. Maybe it's because you're so new. What about your mother do you remember seeing anything on her hands as a young one?"

I closed my eyes tightly trying hard to remember anything about my mother. Anything that wasn't told to me and I came up blank.

The warm darkness at my feet turned cold as it sucked me down the moment I parted my lips to speak again. Surrounding me in the cold darkness were pockets of light showing different moments.

Slowly but surely I realized it was my memories, my worst memories. Shutting my eyes only did so much, I could still hear everything.

Every breath, every thought, every cry for help, every horrible thing that ever happened to me. My breath was coming too fast, and I felt fur press against my neck, a warm weight on my chest.

My wolf, I wrapped my arms around her and screamed out my pain. She howled with me, sharing in my pain.

"I'm sorry", I shouted out loudly into this cold darkness, my body shivering and eyes stinging with tears

Slowly the darkness sweeps away revealing that forest again. Standing in front of me was her, the "me" with wings, horns, and a tail.

She arched a brow, "apology needs to have changed behavior too. If you don't. We'll just end up back here"
