The sun had just begun its ascent over the city skyline as the bustling sounds of morning life filled the air. Korra, already immersed in her rigorous training regime with Tenzin, left Aki to assist Pema in the kitchen. With deft hands, Aki aided Pema in the morning ritual of preparing breakfast.

Pema's cheerful voice echoed through the kitchen as she expressed her gratitude, "Thank you again for making breakfast, seems the little ones are eager, to have your cooking again."

Aki, his demeanor typically stoic, responded in his usual monotone, "Of course, Miss Pema. It's the least I could do." His words carried a sense of duty rather than genuine enthusiasm, yet his actions spoke volumes about his commitment to assisting wherever needed.

Ikki's boundless energy filled the kitchen as she bounced around Aki, her excitement palpable. "YAY, AKI IS COOKING AGAIN! What are you making? Can I have seconds and thirds? Will you make dinner and lunch?" Her rapid-fire questions showcased her eagerness for Aki's cooking.

Aki stood amidst the morning sunlight filtering through the kitchen window, his usually impassive expression softened by a subtle, unconscious smile-a fleeting moment observed only by Pema and Jinora, who exchanged surprised glances at the sight.

Meelo's joyful inquiry pierced the air, "Can you train me to Waterbend?"

Pema and Jinora couldn't help but chuckle at Meelo's earnestness. Despite his desire to become strong, Meelo's youthful innocence was evident, reminding them that he was still just a child, not realizing unless you're the Avatar, you can only bend one element. However, it was Aki's response that truly caught them off guard.

"Well, I don't think you can Waterbend," Aki replied in a tone that was unexpectedly kind and gentle, "but I can show you how to use water bending moves for airbending, like I use earthbending techniques for waterbending."

His words resonated warmly with the children, their hearts stirred by the genuine kindness behind his offer. Even Aki's typically stoic demeanor couldn't hide the sincerity in his voice as he continued, "Now, time to eat so you guys can be strong!" His transition back to his usual tone signaled the start of breakfast, leaving a sense of anticipation lingering in the air.

As the children eagerly dove into Aki's cooking, Pema gestured for him to follow her out to the courtyard. There, she couldn't hide a hint of annoyance in her tone as she relayed Lin's message, "Lin has requested you to come down to the station where she needs help, but..." Her frustration softened as she continued, "she also wanted to apologize and spend time with you." The conflicting emotions danced across Pema's face.

Aki's surprise at the request was evident in his raised eyebrows and the slight tilt of his head. "And what if I declined?" he queried, though inwardly, he already knew the likely outcome: Lin would probably storm down and drag him to the station by the ear.

Pema couldn't contain her laughter at Aki's question. "She said she'd drag you down by the ear if you do decline," she replied, her amusement evident in her voice. The image of Lin resorting to such measures elicited a chuckle from both of them.

Aki's acknowledgment of Lin's busy schedule was tinged with understanding as he nodded slightly. "Well, I suppose I should go see her. I know she's been busy and couldn't come see me," he admitted, his tone reflecting a mix of obligation and genuine concern for Lin's well-being amidst her demanding duties as a police chief.

Aki's attire was a testament to his strategic approach to combat and his reverence for tradition. The fabric of his garments was sturdy yet lightweight, allowing for ease of movement without compromising durability. The absence of fur and excessive layers kept him cool in the city's humid climate, while still providing adequate protection against potential adversaries.
