Jimin frowned, hoping it was joke.
"Yeah, sorry for cancelling" Yoongi says.
So it wasn't a joke!
"Who are you going on a date with?" Jimin asks.
"It's a blind date actually" Yoongi says.
He couldn't believe the elder's words. This was getting too real.
"Who set you up?" He asks, voice becoming lower.
"Hoseok"
"oh"
Now, that seeped in. Hoseok was someone who'd do that. Set Yoongi up with someone random. Yeah. Fuck.
Another minute of silence on the call before Jimin speaks again.
"Okay enjoy hyung, bye!"
"Wait Jimin-"
Before Yoongi could say anything the call ended.
Yoongi sighs.
How was he going to function now knowing Jimin was mad at him.
He hated how he felt. He called Seokjin over. He needed to vent and Seokjin was always there.
"I don't get this boy Yoongi" Seokjin says frustrated, "why's he acting like that now?" He frowns.
"I think he's upset because I cancelled on him" Yoongi says.
"No idiot he's upset because you have a date tomorrow" Seokjin takes a bite of his gimbap, "he's obviously jealous"
"What? No. No way!" Yoongi scoffs, "he couldn't care any less about me going on a date" Yoongi says.
"That's something you like to tell yourself Yoongi but the reality is that he cares" Seokjin takes another bite, "but the confusion is-"
"He doesn't like me like that hyung what are you-"
"Exactly!" He sips his juice, "why does it bother him, right?"
"I don't understand, what am I supposed to do? Not go on a date now just because it bothers him?" Yoongi looks away, tears forming in his eyes, "I've been holding myself back alot now and I don't want to anymore if it's always gonna be one sided" Yoongi sniffles, not letting any tear fall.
It affects so much. Jimin being mad at him, it hurts. He rubbed off the tears in his eyes.
"I have to move on, get over my stupid crush for him" he curses.
"Yoongi-ah, you've said this before too" Seokjin snorts, "but I will always support you"
"Hyung I'm serious this-"
"One pout, one glint of his puppy face and it's over for you Yoongi, you know it too" Seokjin says.
"Are you really supporting me here hyung? Because I don't think you are!" Yoongi sips some water.
"I was going to suggest you something else" he says
"And what was that? Yoongi looks at him with curious eyes.
"Confess to him" he says, stuffing his mouth with more gimbap.
"Okay what?" He frowns dramatically.
"Obviously not, I ain't doing that"
"Why not Yoongi? He's single, he wants your time, just ask him out already."
"Are you serious? And if that doesn't work out, it's gonna be so awkward, I cannot ruin my friendship with him" Yoongi says.
"Look that's up to you now, personally this is what I think" Seokjin speaks as he chews his food.
"I'll pass hyung, but thanks"
....
Yoongi was twisting and turning in his bed, thinking about Seokjin's words. Hoseok and Namjoon had said the same thing to him. He wondered if that would work out. Did Jimin really care about his date, he wondered.
He takes his phone out, dials the number. He grows anxious with every ring. When he hears the sweet voice, his heart falls at ease.
"Jimin"
"It's past midnight Yoongi what's wrong with you?"
"Are you still mad at me?"
"No, I was never mad at you" Jimin lies.
"Why would I be mad at you"
"Right, I-I thought you didn't like the idea of me going on a date so I-"
"What?" He fakes a laugh "hyung, what are you saying" he fakes again.
"So you're not-"
"No Yoongi, stop overthinking" he says, "It's just-" he grips the chair next to him, "I haven't heard that in a long time, you going on dates" he gulps.
"I know"
"I am happy for you hyung" he says sweetly "if he does you wrong, ima smack him" Jimin says.
"Sure Jiminie" Yoongi chuckles.
They say goodnight and cut the call. Yoongi breathes. He was right. He cannot confess. No way. Jimin was his friend, bestfriend and it was better that way.
....
When Jimin keeps the call, he stares at his phone, "I am mad at you Yoongi. So mad at you."
He falls back on his bed, "you cannot cancel on me like that" he huffs, annoyed.
"Why's he going on a date suddenly" Jimin wonders. "Why does he even need anyone when he has me" Jimin makes faces.
He sleeps on his back staring up at the ceiling. He thinks about Yoongi. The day they went for movie. His heart fluttered looking at Yoongi. He sighs.
He then opens the dating app he had recently installed. He had not made a profile yet but now he was making one.
He kept his phone aside when he was done making it, just in 10 minutes his phone started blowing up with notifications.
He took it back to see the amount of people swiping him right. He smirked,
"As expected"
He was checking out a few profiles that he liked.
....
Yoongi was getting ready for his date, he could leave early because he had stayed back the other day.
He chose to wear a black shirt tucked loosely in his ripped jeans and a silver bracelet that was his favourite.
He looked at himself in the mirror, running his fingers through his hair once before leaving the house.
He gets a text from Hoseok saying good luck with the date and Yoongi takes a deep breath.
It had been very long since he went on a date. He believed he couldn't like anyone else because he's always only liked Jimin but how long was he going to be like that, he had to move on.
He was going to have fun and not think about anything or anyone else.
When he reaches the restaurant where they decided to meet, he calls beomseok.
He doesn't answer the call, so Yoongi waits outside.
He tries again in five minutes. Still no answer. He tries again and again, still no response. After waiting for outside for thirty minutes, he had had enough.
But his phone rings and he breaths deeply before looking at his phone.
He frowns when he looks at the unknown number on his screen.
