Chapter 22: Boiled eggs

(sorry but this will be a short chapter since it's the last part of the second phase)

The president of the hunter committee brought you with his airship on the mountain.

Everyone was standing onto the edge, glancing down to the deep cliff.
There were many webs tangled through it, nestle of eggs pending from them. The bottom of the cliff wasn't even visible since the fog that clouded the bed of it.

"Everyone, take a good look over the cliff." Menchi says with her arms onto her hips. "This is the lair of the spider eagles. It actually builds its lair in such place."

The wind suddenly came all the way up and made your hair float in the air as then the breeze ceased down.

"Take a good look beneath the lair," Menchi continued as everyone looked closely spotting the spider eagles eggs. "Those are the spider eagles eggs."

"To protect the eggs from aerial enemies, they build their lairs in deep cliffs and lay them there. As such, the eggs are one of the most difficult ingredients to collect." Chairman explained.
He took a few steps forwards, his hands stuck behind his back while everyone still glanced down at the bottom of the cliff.

"They are also known as Dream Eggs." he continued.

"Wait- are you telling me..." the blonde boy from before stuttered as he started sweating.

"It's exactly what you think." Menchi interrupted him. He boy gasped as Menchi jumped in the air letting herself fall beneath.
Everyone gasped and leaned more on the edge, worried that what she've just done was a sort of suicide.
You tilted your head on the side and kneel down, cautiously looking. Even if you had already passed the exam, paying attention to this procedure it could come in handy.

Menchi took ahold and dangled her body down from one of the webs strings.

"Even if she manages to retrieve an egg, how will she get back up here?" Leorio asked with his hands placed onto his knees. His body leaning forwards too.
No one answered him and before someone could blink an eye Menchi let herself fall into the depths of the cliffs, after catching an egg on her way down.

"She jumped?! She's basically committing suicide!" Leorio yelled slapping his forehead.

"No, that's not true." you say from the lower level you were since being on your knees.
After a few seconds a hard wind came pushing up the dust and fog that spread onto the cliffs bottom.
Menchi's body was pushed up too, the wind blowed her upwards showing everyone her straight figure with a white egg held tightly in her hands.

"The updraft from the bottom of the valley helps newborn larvae float into their nests." Chairman explained why the wind blew so strongly upwards.

Menchi landed onto the ground and stuck out her hand where she was holding the egg. "Yes. We will be using the eggs to make hard-boiled eggs."

"You must be kidding..." the blonde fat boy says. He definitely looked afraid of jumping down the cliff like Menchi just did.
On the opposite, you were quite interested in doing so but you've already passed the phase when it was the right time...

"Nobody sane would jump from such height-" the boy was cut off by Gon's exited shout as he lunched himself in the air.
Following him, Killua, Kurapika and Leorio jumped too, squealing in joy.
Other participants started jumping down too following the route.

"Wait, i haven't finished my explanation!" Menchi yelled at the candidates who were jumping off. I glanced at Menchi who started to build an annoyed expression on her face.
