~Benedict's POV~

The craziness I encountered arriving at Mads's was ridiculous. Whose family does this stuff? I close the door on her brother who is still barking insidious comments at us.

Mads is agitated and stressed as she paces the length of her living room. I'm partially distracted because she's wearing these swishy shorts that barely cover her ass. I force myself to focus on her face, which wears a mask of frustration.

"So what happened?" I ask.

She gestures at the door. "They showed up. I've been ignoring Vic all day. He stormed in here and when he informed me I needed to make things right with Garrison who was in the car this whole time, I stormed out to give Garrison a piece of my mind. They were trying to gaslight me about my feelings for you."

She's pissed but my heart squeezes hearing her reference her feelings for me. I want her to get all the anger out before I circle back to that. "And?"

"And my brother said something crude so I threw my wine at him." She explains like it's the most natural response.

I have to hide my smirk as I reach out and pull her in front of me. She groans, likely knowing what's coming. I tilt my head to look at her. "You didn't take your own advice."

"I know! But...he's family, and he has never escalated to this level. He claims it's coming from this place of concern but I think he's pissed that once he finally decided Garrison was good enough for me, I wasn't interested." She bemoans.

"Did you want him to approve of Garrison?" I can't help but ask.

"No but I didn't like that he thought he had any say in the matter to begin with." She responds.

"So what's the solution here?" I ask, getting down to it.

"We need to talk when we're not angry." She concludes.

"Can I? Maybe he needs to realize I'm not what he assumes." I suggest.

"I mean, you could try." She answers.

"Great. I'll be right back." She catches me so fast I barely have time to move.

"Not tonight! He's looking for a fight and I just...I don't trust the lengths he might go to in order to provoke you." She explains.

"Alright." I agree. I kiss the top of her head and she tilts her head back to offer me her lips properly.

I don't tire of kissing her. Once was never going to be enough. I coax her lips to part with my tongue and soon her arms are curling around my neck, tugging me closer.

I chuckle. "I probably need a shower."

"We used to meet up all the time after work and you never showered before hand." She accuses.

"I didn't think I ever had a chance of getting naked with you." I admit.

"Really? I was worried that you picked up on my attraction to you early on." She shares.

"Interesting. Well even if I picked up on that, which I didn't, you were pretty locked down." I reflect.

"Then you worked your way in, didn't you?" She laughs.
