You took a deep breath and knocked gently on the door. A moment later, it creaked open, revealing Alice's piercing gaze. Her eyes softened when she recognized you.

"Y/N," she said, her voice a blend of surprise and guarded warmth. "What are you doing here?"

You smiled, slipping into the room. "Hola, Alice," you greeted in Spanish, as you often did, enjoying the way her brow furrowed in confusion.

"I don't understand why you keep speaking Spanish to me," Alice remarked, closing the door behind you. "You know I don't get it."

You chuckled, stepping closer. "It's because you look cute when you're confused," you teased, switching to English. "Besides, I've been teaching you, remember?"

Alice crossed her arms, trying to hide a smile. "Yeah, but it's still frustrating. Why are you really here, Y/N?"

Taking a deep breath, you decided to dive right in. "I wanted to tell you something important, Alice. Something I've been keeping to myself for too long."

Alice's eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of suspicion creeping into her gaze. "Go on," she urged.

"Te amo, Alice," you said softly, the Spanish words rolling off your tongue with ease.

She blinked, clearly not understanding. "What does that mean?"

You took her hand in yours, feeling her tense slightly at the contact but not pulling away. "It means 'I love you,' Alice."

Alice's eyes widened, and she took a step back, shock evident on her face. "You...you love me?" she echoed, as if trying to process the revelation.

You nodded, heart racing. "Yes, I do. I know it might seem crazy, considering everything, but I've seen the real you. The kind, caring Alice who hides behind the walls she's built to protect herself. And I love that Alice."
