When school got out, Inky opened her phone to 3 texts from Liam. They were all asking her if she was free today after school. Inky replied saying that she was and did he want to do anything. 5 seconds later he replied.

'Maybe do you want to go out for ice cream?' Liam.

'Sure, where?' Inky.

'Do you have a favorite place?' Liam.

'I like to go to the one on the corner of 105th'Inky.

'I don't think I've been there,' Liam.

'Then lets go there,' Liam.

Inky could tell that he wanted to see her, but why?

When Inky got to the place, she saw Liam inside, sitting at a booth. Inky went inside and sat across from him.

"I can see why you like it in here," Liam said.

There was a mix of Vampires and Humans in the shop, so Inky and Liam fit in nicely.

"Yeah, it also has some really good flavors, too," Inky said.

"I haven't looked at the menu yet," Liam said. "I wanted to wait for you so I could get suggestions."

Just then a waiter can over to their table.

"What can I get for you, Inky?" She asked. "And who is your friend?"

"This is Liam," Inky said.

The waiter held out her hand and she and Liam shook hands.

"Nice to surve you, Liam, was it?" She said.

"Yes," Liam said.

"Well, what can I get for you?"

"How about two menus," Inky replied.

The waiter left and came back with two menus.

"I'll give you some time," She said and left.

"Well I think I will go for a blood shake to start," Inky said.

"I think I will go with a chocolate shake," Liam said. "What in the world is a blood shake?"

"Just what it sounds like," Inky said. "A shake made with blood. I haven't had any today and their blood is really good."

"Ok," Liam said. He had no idea what he was getting into.

The waiter came back and took their orders. Then she went to go and get them.

"How often do you need to drink blood?" Liam asked Inky.

"Well," Inky started. "I should drink once a day, but I can go as long as a week without. My dad can go a month."

"I had no idea that you needed to drink so often," Liam said, then asked, "Where does all that blood come from?"

"It all comes from farms out in Canada," Inky said. "Thy grow animals into adults, then make cuts in their back and collect the blood that comes out. Then they stitch up the wound. They have like 300 animals now, I think. They have cows, chickens, sheep, and horses. But Humans can donate their own blood to a Vampire blood bank if they want too."

"Wow! It sounds like a big operation," Liam said. "So do any Vampires suck from Humans direct?"

"Not unless they want us too," Inky said. Her face was a little pink at these words.

The waiter came back and set their drinks on the table. Liam took his shake and drank some, then he saw Inky's. In her cup looked like strawberry ice cream. On the top was a lot of whipped cream and a strawberry on top. Liam thought it was to give the allusion that it was strawberry flavored so as not to worry all the Human patrons.

Inky stuck her straw into the drink and happily drank some. Then she look at Liam, still with the straw in her mouth. Liam's face had gone white as a ghost and he liked he wanted to faint.

Inky grabbed his arm and took him out side, telling the waiter they would be back. When they got out side, Inky sat him on a bench in front.

"Are you ok?" She asked Liam. Inky looked worried.

"I'm fine, I just," Liam began.

"Was it my drink? I could get something else," Inky said. And she could. She didn't need the blood right now. A chocolate shake would do just as fine.

"You can drink your shake, I'll be fine," Liam told her. He felt sick to his stomach, but was it from the blood drink or from going white and making a seen in front of the girl he liked?

"I'll get a chocolate shake," Inky said. "Come in when you feel ready." She smiled at him and then walked inside.

Liam sat there for awhile then went in to see Inky happily drinking a chocolate shake. He sat down and noticed the blood drink was gone.

"Where did your first drink go?" Liam asked Inky.

"Since it made you feel sick, I asked if they could put it in a to-go cup for later. They are holding it for me behind the counter," Inky said. She took another sip of her drink.

"Sorry about making you change drinks," Liam said.

"It's fine," Inky told him. "Some people just don't like the sight of blood. The shop hides it really well, but if you know then, you know."

The two drank in silence. Then Inky spoke.

"So have the bullies left you alone?" Inky looked up as she spoke. She saw Liam looking at her and his face went red and he looked down.

"Yeah," He said. "I think they think that I am on their side since I..." His voice trailed away and Inky knew what he meant. She blushed a little and looked away.

"I'm happy to hear that they are leaving you alone," A blushing Inky said.

"Have they bothered you at all?"

"No, not yet," Inky said.

They finished their drinks and Liam paid for it. Inky picked up her first drink and they left. Liam walked Inky home and then walked home himself.
