Rune found herself once again standing in Regulus Black's room.
The atmosphere crackled with a quiet intensity, like the calm before a brewing storm.
The room was exactly as she remembered. A symphony of dark green and silver, with its familiar Slytherin decor.
Her eyes flitted to the bed, where the covers lay rumpled as if someone had haphazardly thrown them aside. It was the only part of the room that seemed out of place, a stark contrast to the otherwise meticulously arranged surroundings.
Her heart softened ever so slightly as she realized it was probably like that because he had left in the middle of the night to come find her.
Meanwhile, Regulus was rummaging through cupboards as he searched for something. She watched him noting the slight hesitation in his movements, as if he was unsure of how to act with her in his room.
When he finally turned towards her, she busied herself with looking around the room and hoped he hadn't caught her watching him.
"Here," he said, holding out a set of pyjamas to her. "They should fit you."
"Oh." She took them from his hands. "Thank you."
Regulus nodded in response, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer than necessary.
Then, gesturing towards one of the cupboard doors, he spoke again. "That opens to the bathroom. You can shower if you want."
Her eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You had a bathroom in here the whole time? Last time you made me change in here."
Regulus scratched his head sheepishly, a mischievous glint dancing in his eyes. "I don't recall you ever asking for a bathroom."
She scoffed, unable to suppress a chuckle at his cheeky retort. "Well, I didn't know it was an option."
He cleared his throat, his smirk widening. "Well, now you do," he replied.
With a shake of her head and a smile playing on her lips, Rune sauntered past him, her steps filled with a newfound lightness. As she stepped into the bathroom, she was greeted by the sight of gleaming tiles and plush towels arranged neatly on a nearby rack.
Her gaze lingered on the array of aftershaves, perfumes, colognes, and lotions that adorned the counter. Each one seemed more extravagant than the last. She couldn't help but scoff. It was exactly what she had expected of Regulus - extravagant, luxurious, and utterly predictable.
As she showered, she couldn't resist indulging in the luxury of his products, the rich lather of his shampoo enveloping her in his intoxicating scent. It was a small indulgence, but it made her feel strangely connected to him, as if she was sharing a part of him even when he wasn't there.
Once she was done, she dried herself off and slipped into his pyjamas. The fabric felt soft against her skin, carrying with it the scent of him that still lingered.
As she emerged from the bathroom, she found him standing beside the bed, his gaze fixed on her with an intensity that sent her heart racing. There was a tension in the air, a palpable anticipation that crackled between them.
His eyes roamed over her, and she found herself holding her breath as his eyes travelled down and then back up.
And then she noticed it - a pillow and blanket laid out on the floor beside the bed, as if he had prepared a makeshift bed for himself.
"You want to sleep on the floor?" she asked, her voice laced with confusion at the absurdity of the notion.
Regulus hesitated for a moment before nodding, his gaze flickering away from her. "I thought it might be more comfortable for you."
