Charlotte's P.O.V.
When we entered our room I immediately fell onto the bed. "I have a question. What are we going to do since we have no more clothes?" I asked Nicholas, turning onto my back and staring at him.
"I'm not sure, but, the good thing is I have my phone!" He said with a smile.
"I thought they didn't allow phones?" I felt around my clothes, finally feeling my phone. It was in my bra, so Nick was looking at me weirdly. "I have my phone in my bra," I explained, taking it out. "I was thinking maybe we can learn some songs so we have a few choices that we can sing." I turned on my phone and got into my app that lets me download and play songs.
"Yeah. I was thinking the same thing," Nick agreed with a smile.
"Okay, then. Let's get singing!"
---
We were taking turns, playing our songs and singing, when there was a knock on our room door. I got up, running to it and opening it. "I heard some music playing in here, so I want to do a checkup to see if you have any electronic devices," The guard explained, stepping into the room. I followed after him in complete silence. "Hand over the device," The guard ordered to Nick, and Nick was hesitant to do so. I kept my mouth shut about my phone. After a few minutes of the guard looking around, he didn't find anything, thankfully. The guard left without another word.
I sighed in relief, once again taking the phone out of my bra. "He didn't find mine," I whispered, looking up at Nick. "Do you have any earbuds?" I asked, and Nick started searching around the apartment for some earbuds that somebody might have left here.
"Look what I found!" Nick smiled which caused me to stare.
Stop staring.
I broke my gaze away from his lips, and I looked down at his hand where a set of light blue headphones dangled on his fingers. I grinned, going towards him and taking the headphones. I tried them on and, surprisingly, the headphones fit me perfectly. I looked up at Nicholas, about to thank him, but my words died on my tongue when I saw his frown. "What's wrong?" I asked, genuinely curious.
"It's just, I found the headphones in the bathroom where there was a bloodstain on the floor," Nicholas answered, still frowning.
"Oh," I whispered, a frown stained onto my face.
I guess not everyone survived in this horrible tragedy.
"Anyways, I guess we should still practice." Nick walked over to the ratty couch, sitting on it and closing his eyes. I plugged in the headphones and then I put on a song. I didn't turn it really loud because I need to hear what's going on around me. I start singing the song "Dreaming Alone" by Against The Current.
"The story starts laying in the dark with someone new," I started, a smile slowly growing on my face. I looked at Nick to see him slightly tense before he looked up at me with his amazing light blue eyes. "I'm feeling tired from all the time I spent on you." I continued as I sat down on the rough carpet. "But I know I'm strong from all the trouble I've been through. The story starts where the story falls apart with you." Nick leaned forward, closer to me as I sang those lines.
I jumped in surprise when Nicholas started singing with me as the chorus came on. "Don't lie bright eyes. Is it me that you see when you fall asleep? 'Cause I know it's you I dream about every night giving me a feeling like love in the summer. The way I've never felt with another. Don't lie bright eyes is it me that you see tell me I'm not Dreaming alone."
The next part Nicholas sang alone and when the chorus came on again we both sang together. This continued until the song ended.
"I never knew that you know that song," I said with a seemingly permanent smile plastered onto my face.
"Well I do, so yeah." Nicholas grinned before continuing, "I never knew that you know how to harmonize so well."
I blushed, looking down at my hands that wrung together. "I guess we both don't know much about each other, then." I looked back up at him, staring into his amazing eyes.
"I guess we should go to sleep considering it's pretty late," Nicholas suddenly said, not breaking eye contact with me. I nodded, agreeing with him.
I climbed into one of the twin sized beds, whispering, "Goodnight, Nicholas."
