CHELSEA SPENCER

It's been five weeks in college and I've been invited to a sorority girls' night.

'She's so fucking racist!' Maddie who didn't get invited curses.

'I'm black too,' I point out. I'm biracial - black and white.

'And you weren't there when I was invited,' I add.

I don't want to be there anyway.  That's the exact opposite of what Maddie wants.

'Wanna go instead?' I ask her.

'Girl, I'm not basic,' she replies.

'And about being racist, they have black sisters in the sorority,' I say.

'It's predominantly white, honey,' She says, picking a dress from her closet.

'Going somewhere?' I ask.

'Yeah. Ricardo finally called,' she replies.

'You're such a cunt. I just cancelled my plans to be with you!' I whine.

'Aww. You know I never do this, Chels. He's really needy this time,' she explains.

'Okay. Listen, I know when a guy is horny,' I snap.

She rolls her eyes, slipping a black silk  body con slit dress on.

'How's this?' She asks.

'Giving "betraying your best friend" vibes. I'm sure you love it,' I reply.

'Chels,' she calls, giving me soft eyes.

'You want me to cancel everything?' She asks.

'God, no. I'm half-kidding. Have fun and don't get pregnant.'

'You bet your ass I won't.'

I get a text immediately.

Still coming?
—Stacie.

Well, Maddie's gonna be out so..

You bet.
I text back.

I get a cute white night dress. I take an Uber to the sorority house.

Now at the door, I press the button and the door bell rings. A girl with brown hair gets it.

'Hi,' she says.

'Hey,' I reply.

'Nice dress. What's your name?' She asks.

'Chelsea,' I reply.

'Stacie invited you?' She asks.

'Yeah, wasn't she supposed to?' I ask back, pissed off by the query.

'Just asking. Whatever,' She snaps and walks away.

Rethinking my decision, I turn to leave.

'Chelsea! You came,' it's Stacie.

'I said I would,' I reply.

'Great. Come sit,' she says, pulling me toward the couch.

Someone's phone beeps with text.

'Come on, no texts on girls' night,' Stacie frowns.

'Holy fucking moly, Damian's outside,' a blonde girl says, going towards the door.

Stacie rolls her eyes.

'Girls, Chelsea. Chelsea, my fam, ' Stacie goes on with the intro.

'Hey,' I say. A few people wave. Others just keep using their phones.
