Yes, I'm in higher level English so my writing should be at a better standard. Yes, my teacher marked it. Yes, this is Solarballs.
Enveloped by the darkness of the Kuiper Belt as the sheer speed of the small celestial body left asteroids clattering and crashing together in his wake. Expertly navigating his way through the sea of asteroids on his trident like something you would see in a cartoon, Triton was an unchained lone wolf, as he would call himself. His independence was something he valued greatly, he could never imagine being controlled by someone and he doesn’t want to either. He has had freedom since the dawn of his very existence and if that was ever stripped away, he wouldn’t know how to react.Triton could feel the array of needle ice that constantly forms on his five o’clock shadow. He pays no mind to it or any of the painful sensations it should cause him, already numb to the feeling after millions of years by now. He occasionally glanced upwards, peering through the small gaps between asteroids to see the stars and potentially constellations. The stars were his form of direction. As he continues his travel through the Kuiper Belt, he rubs his eyes giving him the constant reminder of his own poor sleep schedule due to the very visible bags under them, as well as remembering what Pluto had said to him once.
Triton recalls the small planetoid describing him as indistinct when his looks were compared to his personality. He couldn’t help but agree though. With his eye bags, stubbled face and gruff voice that gives the impression of a smoker, Triton could be thought to be a good few million, or even billion, years old. Although he’s never smoked once in his life to gain that croaky voice of his. Yet with the personality of that of a rebellious teenager, he could be seen as younger than that. He doesn’t even know himself how old he is but Triton at least believed he was an adult. He’s mature enough despite his usual personality.
However, he couldn’t help but notice a shift in his direction of movement. It was as if he was starting to be pulled towards what he assumes is the outer part of the solar system, where the giants reside. Triton, from what he’s heard yet unsure if it’s true or not, has typically always avoided that area as it’s been said to be a free-for-all or something of the sort due to it being slightly too far and wide of a space for the Sun to keep constant tabs on, unlike the inner system with the rocky planets. He can even recall being told that, during the early stages of the solar system, Jupiter and Saturn ejected a whole other gas giant out of the system. Again, Triton isn’t certain if these stories are true or not but the size and strength of all the present four giants is enough to fear them.
Desperate to not enter the outer parts of the solar system, Triton quickly attempts to apply pressure to the trident he’s standing on, not thinking properly, only for his efforts to be futile because of the obvious lack of gravity. The speed of the pull kept gradually increasing until, with a shriek, he eventually got pulled completely out of the Kuiper Belt, a small number of asteroids spewing out after him.
The abrupt yanking of what Triton had basically called his home immediately left him feeling confused and vulnerable, a feeling he wasn’t used to. He didn’t even register his own trident flying past him or the feeling of being pulled stopping. He couldn’t focus on anything as his eyes darted everywhere and his entire body and breathing was shaky. One thing Triton noticed was that for a place that was described as a ‘free-for-all’ it was quite empty but he didn’t expect this from the outer parts of the solar system. His mind started to spiral in the most confusion it has ever been in his life. Never once has he left the Kuiper Belt and he doesn’t even know what pulled him out in the first place. Questions upon questions kept piling up but were always left without any answers.
“Who are you?” a voice asked from behind Triton. Upon hearing it, Triton’s head instantly snapped towards the direction of the voice, putting his fists up to prepare for a potential fight. However, he saw no-one behind him when he did so, until he looked down. Raising an eyebrow, he slowly lowered his fists as he stared at the being before him. They were small and Triton would have probably mistaken them for an asteroid if asteroids had consciousness like other celestial bodies in the universe. He was left with more confusion than previously, only able to respond with “What…?”.
