the sun poured through the blinds of jacki hernandez's apartment window. and yet regardless of the blinding light this did not cause jacki to get up—but her obnoxious phone alarm did. the sound of the traumatic phone alarm caused jacki to groan, as she rolled over and hit the stop button.

it was about 8 AM, jacki had a shift soon at the 118 where she recently started a few months ago. which also meant, a few months ago, jacki had decided to not continue her career of being a cardiologist surgeon. jacki was a whole different person, she was about to graduate medical school and commence her residency, she was studying at USC's medical school and then all of a sudden she decided to become a paramedic.

it may have seem like a sudden change to her family but jacki's has been thinking about this for a while since the car accident that jacki had experience the year before. it was like a sign or something because it was the second time jacki had witness paramedics in action and admire their work.

jacki remembers the long night discussions and arguments that she had with her parents about the decision she made to be a paramedic.

being asked are you sure about being a paramedic, or you'll still make the same difference as a cardiologist or you're not really getting a second chance saving them before getting them to the hospital. eventually in the end, jacki obviously went through the academy and has been a firefighter for a few months now.

she got along well with her co-workers, henrietta wilson (hen) and howard han (chimney) who were great mentors, and extremely nice. jacki enjoyed working with them and they've been welcoming. as was the 118 captain bobby nash.

there was only one person jacki couldn't stand though, and that was evan buckley. or as everyone called him...buck.

(or as jacki calls him, fire-hoe)

jacki and buck entered at the same time to station 118. she wasn't sure what to expect of the frat boy turned firefighter. jacki was judgemental when it came to buck, but you had to understand, he is so reckless and did not care for his actions or how it affects others.

sometimes jacki tries to give buck the benefit of the doubt but he was so self-centered sometimes, taking his dumb gym selfie or whatever. sometimes jacki wishes a hole would open up in the ground and swallow buck whole. but jacki wasn't that horrible of a person, or at least seems to be.

once the young adult was ready for her day, she grabbed her keys and was off to work. jacki ran down the stairs lightly and into the garage before reaching her car. the cool lighting of the garage didn't prepare jacki for the heat and sun of los angeles. the young paramedic was so used to napa valley scenery from her hometown of st. helena.

jacki arrived at the station, hastily getting down before rushing over to change into her uniform. the young paramedic quickly disposed of her clothing and shoes and practically jumped into her uniform before heading up the stairs to find her co-workers.
