the smoke alarm was going off in jacki's apartment, she was cursing at herself and kept swatting at it to turn off. she couldn't have firefighters in her house. it be embarrassing considering that she, herself, was a firefighter. well paramedic, but still!

"i am never cooking grilled cheese again, but, please! for the love of god, stop beeping!" jacki screamed.

"LAFD!" shouted someone on the door.

"i'm fine!" jacki shouted back.

"ma'am, we're gonna need you to open up!" shouted the firefighter.

the voice sounded familiar, causes jacki's stomach to drop; she slowly walked over to the door like she was in a horror movie about to open the door to the killer. jacki swings up the door, so fast, it could've hit her face.

"buck!?" jacki exclaimed.

"jacki? you live in this dingy apartment?"

"fuck you! what are you doing here?"

"picking up extra shifts after being fired."

"for less than twelve hours... barely fired."

buck scoffed before asking why her smoke detector was going off. jacki crossed her arms and mumbled something that buck couldn't hear.

"speak up."

"i burnt my grilled cheese." jacki said.

buck let out a laugh before proceeding to go into jacki's apartment. jacki was hot on his tail, telling him to leave her apartment, since he now knew why her smoke detector was going off. jacki didn't like buck being in her space, a space that was designated to be a break from buck. but he was currently inside her apartment, so it was no longer a safe space.

"it seems more like burned cheese rather than grilled cheese." buck replied.

"can you please leave now!?" jacki screeched.

"you need me to turn off that detector?"

"i can get it."

"yeah but i'm taller."

jacki grabbed a chair from her dining room and stepped on it before pressing the button that stepped the obnoxious beeping.

"you can leave now." jacki ordered.

"you know i always wondered what your place looks like, and now this answers all my questions."

"don't you live in a frat house with three other retired frat boys." jacki answered.

buck had a face of defeat, as he smiled and nodded his head before leaving jacki's apartment.

"you have a good day now."

"eat a dick and die!"

"only if you do as well."

jacki slammed her door before walking over to her burnt cheese and tossing it in her trash bin.
