The smell of the ocean, the feeling of the sand in between my toes, and the comfort of the wind. In a world of famine and pain it's almost crazy how I can find such solitude on the beach. The Capitol of Panem can send everyone I love into the Hunger Games, but I would still find myself again in the ocean. Nothing could ruin the ocean for me, nothing could make me hate it, or make me stir away from it. The ocean not only comforts me in my times of need, but it's also where my family has grown our infamous reputation.

My brothers, Rylee, Ronan, Conor, and Casey were all taught by my father, Declan, to surf. When I was born my mother, Creeda, wanted me in the house more to help with cooking and making fishing bait, but when I saw my brothers on the waves nothing could stop me from joining them. Our family has a way of pulling in everyone when we surf. Because when the sun hits our hair just right, we shine brightly in those waves. In competitions we've gained our respect because of how good we are and how much we steal the spotlight. The shine of all our ginger hair reflecting the sun onto everyone watching. Surfing has been apart of my family since the day I could breathe. We talk, walk, breath, and live surfing, surfing is our lives. However, that being said nothing stopped me from overpassing all my brothers and my father, being the best surfer in District 4. Not to brag obviously. I've earned the nickname, "The Queen of the Waves," and my family doesn't take that lightly.

My brothers names came from my mother. The "C" in her name went to Conor and Casey, and then the "R" for Rylee and Ronan. My name came from "D" in my father's name. My brothers are everything to me. They're still angry at me for beating them at surfing, but that's all jokes. My oldest brother Rylee works with my father. They work where most people in District 4 work, in the fishing business. We own a shack in the town square called "Gallagher's Scales." My brother takes the boat out every morning and comes back everynight around sunset. He and my father worked for weeks making a sailboat, and now it's his pride and joy. Alongside them is my second oldest brother Casey, he works the cashier.

Next is my brother Ronan. He's taking classes in the university more north to District 4. He's very smart, and doesn't say a lot. He's a man of few words. Finally is my brother Conor. He's only a year older than me. He still sits at home. Occasionally he goes to help out in the shack, but most of the time he's at home sleeping or out with a girl. He's my surfing buddy. When everyone else is busy I can alway ask him and he'll be down for it, which is a lot of the time. My mother works at the shack as well. She works the kitchen part of it. We sell fresh fish but we also sell cooked and processed fish. She works the kitchen alone however, since I haven't stepped a foot in there since I was 5.

The Gallaghers aren't only talented surfers and motivated fishermen, but we aren't blinded by the truth of the world. My parents would be foolish to ignore the black void that fills out world every year. My parents decided to have 5 kids, and with that came years and years of terror, hoping that one day they wouldn't be sending one of them into the games. Ever since I could walk I've been trained. All of my brothers have been trained. My father made a pack to my mom that if one of us were to be reaped, we would be ready. He wasn't going to let the Capitol take away his children. Rylee is a trained fighter. His muscles are show for it. He could rip apart anything with ease and has been building his strength up since diapers, he's also not half bad in the ring.

Casey is good with a staff, trident, and spear. He's never tried anything other than a pole like weapon, but and in his defense, he's mighty excellent with it. Ronan is a perfect shot with a crossbow. With his wits and laser like focus, he's able to punture a fish without being able to see it, just by the ripples in the ocean. And Conor is good with a sword. To make up from the fact that I don't help my mom out, he helps skinning the fish and helps cutting them up. But that doesn't take away from the fact that his swordsmanship is incredible.
