"Y/N." MARTIN ELSHER CAME INTO THE KITCHEN, looking down at his daughter who turned around.

Y/N, moments before, came downstairs to make herself breakfast. assuming her father was either fast asleep or at work, she'd have to go to school either way. but she'd skip it.

The bright sunlight of the morning escaped from the window into the kitchen, shining onto everything there. Y/N blinked at her father, this seemed to have been the longest interaction they've had since about last year. When her mom tragically passed away.

"Um. Yes?" Y/N replied, a wave of confusion passing her. She placed the cup of water onto the counter, her pajamas were still on. Well, if you counted a plain white t-shirt and sweatpants as pajamas.

Martin looked at her for a moment, before letting out a loud huff. "Heard about Will last night. On the TV. Really sad what happened to him." Martin said, then taking a long pause. "He was a good boy. Uh ...If you need to skip school or anything, take a break, I'll call the school. Let you skip today."

Y/N froze. "Yeah, that'd ...That would be perfect." Y/N stuttered, almost in a haze. "Thank you, dad."

Martin nodded, before leaving the kitchen and heading back into the living room.

Eleven held the supercom in her hand as she tuned the radio frequencies. Indistinct whimpering was heard from, but what could be identified as Will Byers.

Mike had called Y/N over, to help out his case. He also called over Lucas and Dustin, to prove that Will was alive, and whoever they had pulled out of the water—wasn't him.

"We keep losing the signal, but you heard it, right?" Mike said after the whimpering had stopped and Eleven tried putting it back on.

"Yeah, I heard a baby." Lucas remarked.

"What?" Mike said, confused.

"Mike, you obviously tapped into a baby monitor." Lucas said, as if it was obvious. "It's probably the Blackburns' next door."

"Are you serious?" Y/N scrunched up her face for a second. "That was Will!"

"Y/N, Mike." Lucas said warningly.

"Lucas, you don't understand. He spoke last night! Words! He was singing that weird song he loves. Even Y/N and El heard him!" Mike stated.

"Oh, if the weirdo heard him—" Lucas was right about to make a snarky comment.
