As time progressed, Cody found himself falling for Obi-Wan even more. He didn't think that was even possible but apparently it was. And Cody was never happier.
Obi-Wan turned out to be not only a perfect husband but also a very good negotiator and he had earned himself respect from all of the people by the way he interacted with everyone like they were equals. Mandalorians were always skeptical to outsiders. It took Aayla half a year and Riyo four months to actually earn the love and respect the people had for the mandalorian royal family. Obi-Wan earned the respect in a week and it didn't take him long to earn the love of the people too.
The Fetts all loved him. He could spend hours in the library with ba'buir Jaster, talking about books and mandalorian history, he could duscuss the incredibly boring meditation techniques with Cody's mother and he even convinced Ahsoka to join them sometimes. He could talk over battle strategies with both Cody's buir and Wolffe just as well. Fox seemed to enjoy sharing stories about someone called either "Quinlan" - Obi-Wan's stories - or "that di'kut" - Fox's stories - they apparently both knew and Aayla also joined them sometimes. He gossibed about romantic films with Bly and newest fashion with Ponds. Ba'vodu Myles bit ba'vodu Kal because apparently they both wanted to adopt Obi-Wan and in the end, ba'vodu Mij told them if someone was adopting Obi-Wan it was him and that he was more then capable of stabbing them and declaring it a "death of natural causes" if anyone went against that. Rex was making use of Obi-Wan's offer to help him with research for some of his classes and Obi-Wan won over Kix's heart the moment Kix found out he - as the first member of the Fett family - actually could recognize all of the weird animals Kix was obssessing over. Jesse was in the age when he didn't like anyone but somehow, Obi-Wan had made the teen tolerate him. Fives and Echo adored him and loved playing with him and Cody had to admit, Obi-Wan was really good with children. To sum up, he was perfect. Not that Cody didn't know that before.
"Obi-Wan?" Cody called. His riduur was sitting in the gardens. He seemed to love it there, all the plants fascinated him and Cody loved the spark in his eyes that he got when looking at something of his interests, such as plants. Or animals. Or tea. Or fancy robes. There was a lot of things Oni-Wan was interested in. Cody was there because of his interest in fashion this time. As much as selfless and humble Obi-Wan was, he loved the rich dress robes. Not the traditional ones he brought from Stewjon but the ones he could see in magazines or storefronts. He would never admit it, always hiding his interest in the items but Cody could read him well enough now. And if his cyare wanted a piece of clothing, he got the piece of clothing. Cody was the future mand'alor for god's sake, he could afford to dress his riduur.
"Yes?" Obi-Wan perked up from his seat on one of the benches when he heard Cody approaching.
"Are you having fun observing plants?"
"I very much am, yes. Do you need me for something?"
"Not really," Cody smiled as he sat down next to Obi-Wan. "I brought you something."
Obi-Wan looked surprised when Cody handed him the carefully packaged gift and Cody swore to get him gifts more often. Then Obi-Wan carefully undid the paper, revealing the soft fabric of a dress robe. It was a one they saw on one of their trips across the city in one of the best shops on Mandalore. If he thought Cody didn't notice how Obi-Wan was eying the robe, he was wrong. As much as Obi-Wan insisted he didn't see anything interesting on the way, Cody knew this robe has caught his attention.
"Oh... Thank you Cody, it's beautiful," Obi-Wan smiled one of his most beautiful smile as he traced his fingers over the light brown fabric.
