Shoutout to @DieEmmaGe for inspirating me. Thank you, this chapter would never have existed without you. I hope I used the prompt right.
Obi-Wan didn't know what to do. He didn't know what he should have done differently. He only knew one thing for sure. He screw up.
Jango called off the negotiations because of him. Cody was avoiding him not only for the rest of their stay but for the whole ride back to Mandalore and then in the palace. He made Cody move out of their quarters. There was not a single thing he didn't mess up.
He tried to approach Cody and apologize but Cody wouldn't talk to him. That hurt. Against all odds, he fell in love with the mandalorian prince. And Cody was always so kind to him. It was more than he ever expected from marriage. Because marriages of love weren't for people like Obi-Wan. His duty came first. Father made sure Obi-Wan knew that.
Oh... What will father think when he hears about this mess?
***
When Obi-Wan met lord Maul of Dathomir for the first time, he was thirteen. Maul along with lady Talzin came in order of negotiating deals of a new treaty between Stewjon and Dathomir.
Obi-Wan's task was simple. He was to show the older prince around the castle and then make sure he was entertained for the duration of the negotiations. The treaty was important and it was important to leave a good impression on the royals of Dathomir, father made sure Obi-Wan knew that.
Only entertaining Maul proved to be more difficult than Obi-Wan expected. The older boy didn't seem to be interested in any of the things Obi-Wan was showing him. The only time Maul didn't look bored was when he shoved Obi-Wan into the pond in the gardens.
When Obi-Wan complained about that to his father, king Qui-Gon just laughed and told him not to act like a spoiled brat and take it with humor. And Obi-Wan did.
Only then Maul started being even weirder. He started complimenting Obi-Wan but it didn't feel nice at all. He called him pretty but it felt as if he was about to attack him. Then he started touching him. Just casual little touches at first. Brushing through Obi-Wan's hair, putting a hand around his waist or kissing his cheek. It wasn't comfortable but Obi-Wan could take it. For Stewjon.
Only then it got worse. Obi-Wan didn't expect it at all. Maul just acted his normal weird self, then he looked at Obi-Wan with the predatory smile he seemed to wear everytime he complimented him. "You could come to my room and we can have some fun there," the older boy said with a smirk.
Obi-Wan just politely nodded and followed Maul. He couldn't have known Maul will lock the door behind them, press him against the wall and... was this what sexual education was about?
He ran to his father, crying, after that happened. His father looked at him sympathetically but explained to him how important it was that Obi-Wan does everything to keep Maul happy. So Obi-Wan did. Because king Qui-Gon was wise and when he said it was necessary, it was.

When Cody expressed interest in Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan's father was proud. For the first time in Obi-Wan's life, his father was proud of him.

"I just spoke with the mand'alor," his father announced. "It would seem that his son has taken an interest in you, Obi-Wan. He wishes to invite us to a ball in Mandalore."
"Are we going there, father?"
"Of course we are. This is an opportunity, Obi-Wan. Mandalore is a rich and powerful country. Stewjon could benefit greatly form an alliance. You will visit the tailor tomorrow and get some new robes. You will intensify your mando'a lessons and I will arrange you a lesson with someone who will teach you mandalorian dances. You will do everything to impress the mandalorian prince and get him to marry you."
"Yes, father."
"Good. I honestly don't know what the mandalorian prince sees in you but whatever it is, you will do Stewjon a great service if you marry the mandalorian heir. Be careful, Obi-Wan, don't mess this one up. Lord Maul might not be interested in marrying you and neither seems to be sir Grievous, but Cody Fett is equally good, if not better, of a match for you."
"I understand."
"Good."

Obi-Wan did, in fact, screw up. He once promised he won't. He did. He didn't really understand what exactly was the breaking point but considering how Cody was avoiding him, there was no way he would still want him. It was a surprise he wanted Obi-Wan at all.
Obi-Wan should have fought Maul more. Alhough... Cody seemed strangely alright with the fact that Obi-Wan has been with Maul before. It wasn't like what Obi-Wan's teachers said at all. They always said that powerful men were possessive and their spouse being with someone else would enrage them. Cody seemed mad but at Maul, not at Obi-Wan.
Cody started looking truly pissed of when... when Obi-Wan indicated their marriage was arranged. That was probably where he messed up.
***
"Sometimes I don't know what Cody wants from me," Obi-Wan confessed to his father.
"Oh?"
"He just- he doesn't seem happy at all when I just politely listen to him, as if he wanted me to... talk back on him. And he never orders me anything, he always asks. But it's not my place to decide what we do or what we talk about! I just don't know if he likes arguing or just wants to hear me agree with me..."
"Listen, Obi-Wan. Whatever it is that he wants, you are going to give him. If he finds it amusing or attractive when you are all bratty and talking back, that's what you will do. If he wants to act like a happy married couple, that's what you will do. Am I understood?"
"Yes, father."
***
No. Cody didn't seem to like thinking about their marriage as arranged. Maybe he loved Obi-Wan for real? But how? How could Cody love him?
