"What's behind your back Jake?" She asks again
"What do you mean?" I say while pushing the drynite down my trousers. "There's nothing behind my back"
Before I could say anything, Nika had reached behind me and pulled it out revealing it to the world.
That was when I knew that I'd been caught. I grabbed her hand, pulled her into my room and shut the door.
"Never mind I'll ask you later." She said. "I really need the toilet" she walked to the door but I blocked her knowing that she'd just go tell everyone about my drynites.
"If you're gonna block the door then turn around" she said
"Why?" I ask
"it's not like I'm gonna climb out of the window so just turn" she says with near tears in her eyes.
I felt bad for her so I reluctantly turned around and faced the door.
I listened to hear what she was doing and heard her pull her clothes off followed by the familiar crinkling of the drynite. I then heard a hissing noise and had to turn around.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO LOOK" she shouted with tears in her eyes.
I couldn't believe it I was staring at my crying 14 year old niece who was peeing in a drynite.
"Nika I'm so sorry for looking but please be quiet" I said. "You don't want your mom to come up and see"
"I didn't want YOU to see!" she said still crying.
"Are you done peeing yet?" I asked
"Hang on" she said "ok now I am"
"Please sit on my bed we need to talk" I told her.
"Ok" she said as she sat down
"I'm so sorry that you had to use that drynite. Ask me anything about them and I'll answer honestly." I said trying to get her to calm down.
"Why do you have them?" She asked while wiping her eyes.
"I've wanted to try them for a while" I responded. "I only got them yesterday so it didn't take long for someone to find out huh?"
She chuckled which made me laugh
"So what are you gonna do about your current outfit?" I asked
"Well I'm obviously not gonna stay in it so can you just turn and I'll put my trousers back on" she responded.
I turned around and heard the crinkle of a dry nite and the rustle of clothes.
"You can look now." Nika said.
I turned around to see Nika holding the wet drynite high above her waist as if she wasn't embarrassed at all.
"How are you gonna get rid of it?" I asked perplexed.
"I dunno." She responded. "Can you bin it later?"
"Yeh just put it there" I said whilst pointing at my bed. "Do you want a dry nite to take home with you?"
" no thanks I'm gonna buy some later"
"Think of it as my way of apologising." I responded
"Ok. Thanks" she said as I handed one to her
"I'm going down stairs now because I think my mum will be confused as to what's taking so long" Nika replied
"Oh ok" I said. "Bye Nika"
She leaned in and hugged me before leaving my room.
"Now what do I do with you?" I said aloud looking at my niece's used drynite.
