It's been exactly one week since the incident. Elyse has finally started to remember a few people's names, other survivors. She shivered as she looked out at the never-ending sea in front of her. It was a picture perfect tropical getaway, which felt more like a prison at this point.

Though it had only been a week, Elyse was beginning to lose her mind a bit each time she attempted to shake the relentless sand from her wavy, brown, hair. It didn't help that the sea water acted as almost a glue for the sand to stick to.

She felt as though she'd be sick if she had to watch the ocean for another day, which was ironic because Elyse had felt drawn to the Ocean for as long as she could remember. With each passing hour, their odds of rescue seemed to become almost non-existent.

She had been on the flight from LA to Australia with her boyfriend Dean, to visit his family. They'd been together for 2 years now, she met him when she studied abroad in Australia one year, and he moved to LA to be with her shortly after.

She'd always felt like she owed him, since he dropped everything to come into her life, and he made sure to remind her of that fact, every chance he got. To say she was truly sad their plane hadn't made it home, would be a lie, though Elyse was too ashamed to ever admit it.

She took comfort in the sort of "order" the group of survivors had gained on the island. It was almost like their own little society. Jack was in charge, the guy everyone went to for answers. He was tall and lean, with warm, coffee brown eyes. Elyse learned yesterday that he was 26 years old, only a year older than her.

He was a doctor, the type that likely always brought work home, seeing how he was constantly worried about people even now.
He was the kind of leader you'd hope for in a situation like this. Kind, fair, selfless, and against the idea of being in charge in the first place. Jack was probably Elyse's favorite person here so far, other than Claire and Hurley.

Claire was a sweet little blonde woman, full of life and personality despite the circumstances, and she was also 8 months pregnant. Everyone seemed to keep their distance from her, like she had a ticking time bomb inside her which, in a way, Elyse supposed she did.
Hurley was a heavier man with thick, curly, brown hair, who spoke with almost a child-like wonder. He had a never ending collection of silly jokes stored in his mind to put you at ease, and most importantly, he was someone Elyse felt she could trust.

Today, Elyse had grown tired of sitting around on the beach, listening to Dean complain about everything he could think of. She was determined to venture out into the thick jungle that surrounded them, the jungle that everyone was too afraid to venture off into since Jack and Kate had warned everyone of what they saw, or didn't see.

They said they had gone out to check for more survivors, and came across the front of the plane wedged in some trees. They saw the captain there and tried to save him, but a loud roar filled the air and he was ripped from his seat, and all that was left of him was the splatters of blood the mysterious "monster" had left behind. They both said they weren't able to see what it was, and they ran for their lives back to the camp on the beach.

Kate was someone Elyse wasn't certain about yet, though she seemed kind enough. The image of her popped into her mind then, with her curly brown hair and a face full of freckles. She was the same age as Jack, with whom she seemed to have a sort of romantic connection going on, as far as Elyse could tell. It seemed you would never see one without the other.

"God it feels like we'll never be rescued at this rate. I should've never moved away, this never would've happened! We could've been in Australia with my family, safe and sound. They'd take care of you!"

Dean interrupted her train of thought with his ten thousandth complaint of the day, though it was only morning still, somehow making the plane crash Elyse's fault once again.
