"You did love me," I whispered.
"Just not the same way I loved you"The two decided that maybe it was fate they met each other again.
They decided to give their relationship another shot and to do it the right way.
At first, everything was amazing, Samari finally was getting treated the correct way by Zaira and it was like closure to her.
She knew Zaira had it in her to treat her right.. she just didn't act on it.
Samari found herself falling in love with Zaira all over again.
But that was okay this time right...?
Not quite.
Time passed, and after some time, Zaira slowly reverted back to her old ways. Her behavior became more to the way she used to be. She began to distance herself from Samari and started to spend time with other girls, seemingly not caring about her anymore.
This only made Samari's heart ache, as she couldn't help but compare her now to how she used to be.
She was reminded yet again of that pain and heartbreak she put her through, only this time it hurt even more because it felt like she never changed.
It felt like someone had taken a knife and stabbed her in the heart.
Once again she gave her this false impression that she really loved her and wanted things to work out between them.
"Why did I even try?.." Samari said to herself as her eyes watered.
Samari tried and tried to make it work this time around, but it wasn't working. She still loved her despite everything, but she still hadn't changed. She still wasn't able to stay faithful, she still wasn't able to let go of her old habits.
It broke her heart to see Zaira still do the same things that she used to do. She couldn't help but cry as she realized that it wasn't working.
Samari grabbed her things from Zaira's place and went back home.
She regretted everything, she wished Zaira never met her at that prom.
Maybe in an alternate universe, they never met and she never got her heart broken.
After all of those times, after she decided to give her another chance, after she tried to work things out once more... It all ended the same way as it did before.
Zaira seemed like she changed, but she was still the same.
A person like her could never break from their old habits.
Once she made it back home, she started to regret everything.
Samari wondered why she still gave her so many chances, as if she didn't learn from her past mistakes.
