Dancing in the rain

I get to work and see Leah's car parked up outside. I walk in and Tilly walks over. "Dani's decreased rapidly" she says
"Shit" I say
I walk in and see her family gathered round her. "Is it okay if I can give her some morphine to help with pain?" I ask
"Yeah" Lisa says and stands up to give me some room. I put some PPE on and lift her shirt up to give her the injection. "Dani?" I say and she moves her head. "How you feeling?" I ask
She doesn't reply. I smile at her, I knew her time was coming to an end very soon. A tear rolls down her face and I wipe it. "Dani you're in very safe hands. You will be okay I promise" I say and move away and take the PPE off. "What's gonna happen?" Lisa asks

"Unfortunately she's rapidly declining, she could increase again and get a bit better or she couldn't. No one knows, everyone's different. Dani is a wonderful girl and you guys brought her up amazing" I say and smile at them
"Usually in these times we would play a show they like to watch or music they like listening too. She mentioned she liked Harry potter, we could put the movie on?" I suggest
"Okay" Robert says and I put the movie on.
Tilly walks in "erm Amelia could I talk to you?" She ask
"Yeah" I say and walk out
"Olivia hasn't showed up and I know she went home with you last night" Tilly says
"Yeah I dropped her off at her boyfriends around 9pm" I say
"She might just be running late til, don't panic" I say
"I'll drop by tonight if she doesn't show okay?" I say
"Okay" Tilly says and walks off

I walk back in and see Dani laid still but her chest moving up and down. "Has Tilly our manager spoke to you at all today?" I ask, Lisa and Robert were in tears so Leah speaks "yeah, she talked us through everything"
"Okay, erm. If you guys need anything please come and get me" I say and walk out. "Wait" Leah says and walks with me.
We go outside and she hugs me. "I'm sorry Leah" I say
"Me too" she says and pulls away she walks in a circle. "I know it's hard" I say
"Shit" she says and leans down to the floor.
She puts her hands to her mouth. I lean down with her and look into her eyes.

"No one can prepare you for what's to come and I know it's gonna sting but I promise it will heal" I say
"Dani was there only successful child, Lisa had so many miscarriages" Leah cries. I make her stand up and sit her on the bench outside I pull her into a hug
I hug her for a bit, I see Amerie get out of her car. She walks over "melia, livs in danger" she says
Olivia was one of my best friends, but Leah she meant a lot to me. "What do you mean danger?" I ask whilst still having Leah's head on my shoulder
"Like her boyfriends got her trapped" she says
"Go tell Tilly" I say
"Okay" she says and walks inside
Leah looks at me. "Is that your friend?" She asks
"Yeah that's amerie" I say
"How about you come home with me tonight, I know you won't want to leave Dani but give some time to Lisa and Robert" I say
"Yeah" she says
"I'd like that" she adds
"Go spend some time with them and I'll come along when my shift finishes" I say
She smiles and walks inside I finish my shift and keep my promise. I go along and Leah comes with me.

We get in the car and drive to mine. She sits on my sofa and I sit next to her. A call comes through from my mam. "Hey" I say and wave to the screen. "Hey hun, Isabelle wants to say hello" she says
"Okay" I say and smile at the screen. "Hey Mila" Izzy says
"Hey izz how's your ankle?" I ask
"It's okay. Anyway tell me about London, have you seen the stadium yet?" She asks, even though I've loved in London for 4 years they all thought I'd still live under a rock.

"Yes I went to it the other day" I say
"Ooh was that to meet your date" Isabelle says
"Maybe" I say and I look over to Leah, she's staring at me.
"What's she like?" She asks
"Why? You jealous Izzy?" I ask
"No" she says, Izzy was 14.
"Tell me" Izzy begs
"She's pretty" I say
"Only pretty" Izzy says
"Okay fine, she's everything I've wished for" I say. This was getting cringey as they defo didn't know Leah was here
"What so blonde? Blue eyes?" Izzy say s
"Yes" I say
"I know someone like that" Izzy says
"What a footballer by any chance?" I ask
"Yeah a lot of arsenal fitties are perfect for you, all got blonde hair and blue eyes" she says
I roll my eyes "don't you roll your eyes, everyone knows your type"
"Okay fine, maybe I found the perfect girl for me okay" I say
"And what if she played for Chelsea?" I say and Isabelle laughs
"You wouldn't dare let a Chelsea player anywhere near this house" she says
"Why?" I ask
"Because I'm arsenal through and through, that's my dream!" She says
"I know" I say
The call ends and I look at Leah. "Your perfect for me too" she says
I smile and get closer to her. "Is it gonna be weird? Like not having Dani round?" Leah asks
"Yeah, it will be. But you guys will adjust" I say
