                                     IMANI

After my wild, wild ride last night,  I couldn't sleep. Yes yes, laugh all you want. The contractions were so bad I had to go to the hospital. I done got this baby out me the same way he got there.

At least he's out.

Right, right. Kyle has been by my side ever since and some of the others that I expected came to visit throughout the day.

Except Kenya.

I doubt she knows her nephew's here but I can't hold it against her.

As if on cue, she waltzes through the door bearing gifts. A pampers bouquet with a pair of blue crocs and a gift bag in her other hand. Domonic follows with a gift basket and a smaller gift bag.

She hands the gifts to Kyle and captures me in a bone crushing hug, kissing my forehead.

"How are you mama?" I'm surprised. Normally, people would ask about the baby first.

"Him dehya Kenya" my eyes tear up as she still holds me.

"I know but I asked about you, are you okay?"

"Yes I'm okay. Thanks for asking" I tell her truthfully. There wasn't much complications.

"I'm sorry I couldn't make it. I was sleeping when Kyle texted me last night and I had school today so I went and ditched work to come here. I know our relationship nowaday feels strained because we barely talk but I'll try to make it better".

My eyes soften.

"It's okay. I should've reached out too because the phone goes both ways. I thought you didn't want anyone to bother you during this time, seeing as you'll be off in a few weeks to get your proper teaching experience. I guess I felt jealous of your school" She stares at me then burst out laughing.

"Jealous? Of school? Come on Imi. Yaah work fi a kunk eno" I start laughing as well.

She finally lays her eyes on Arson and her whole face lights up.

Cyaah believe yuh really name the pickney Arson.

"But after yuh nuh put in nuh work" she looks back at me, "wah mek him fava Kyle suh?"

Same thing me seh too Kenya.

Kyle smiles proudly as she blabs on about how much they look alike. She takes him and observes him closer. He's looking up at her.

"Bwoy yuh look like a pure trouble yaago give mommy, but don't worry, aunty dehya fi back yuh"
