OMNISCIENT

Tense. The atmosphere around the onlookers could only be described as tense, as the paramedics worked and the police questioned.

By the time help arrived, Javon was long dead, with his girlfriend/baby's mother bleeding out on him. Apparently, no one but Kadedra witnessed the shooting that took place. Citizens claim that they didn't even hear anything, but a smart person would know that they're keeping quiet out of fear.

Grim stood with the officers, overlooking the crime scene-Ironic, isn't it? He got to them as soon as Kenya hung up the call between her and Kadedra, but by the time they arrived, everything was finished.

They had recorded his time of death on site, since there wasn't even a faint pulse to deem him alive.

Hurt and confusion clouds his mother's expression on the phone with Kenya, there isn't even a tear on her face while the others in the background are hysterically crying.

"So how's Kadedra? Any feedback on her?" Kenya shook her head rapidly. It pained her greatly for the family, she can't imagine what they're going through at this time.

"No, they just left with her. We're hoping and praying that she's fine but..." she trailed off seeing the last bit of Dahlia's reserve shatter.

"I can't lose both my babies, God know me cyaah dweet. Dedra is my daughter yuh know, from Javon bring her home to me... I knew she would be his wife" a tear slid down her cheek before she wiped it away and continued, "she should be his wife. I could see that she loved him, probably more than herself. Through her words and her actions. Anuh one time Dedra call me fi complain bout Javon and his lifestyle, the crime and violence, the multiple women, alla dat. She tried with him even when he didn't want to cooperate".

Kenya held the phone in both hands as she sat in the opened trunk of Gary's car.

"When Javon tell me seh him aguh propose to her, me get up and run round the house. I was so glad him wise up ... I was supposed to get pictures to post, their journey should've been longer" she sighed, wiping away her tears,
"My poor grandbaby.. what'll go on with her from here? Dem aguh dash her inna a home? Give her to family members fi dem mistreat her?". Worry danced in her ashen grey eyes as she knit her brows together.

"I could keep her until you sort something out" Kenya suggested. Relief painted her worry completely.

"Thank you, I appreciate it so much. My Kadedra needed a friend like you" she smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes, then she hung up.

Kenya was torn between getting Kajaia and going to see Kadedra at the hospital. Though she wanted to get Jaia something stopped her. What was she going to tell her? Jaia was old enough to know what death was and that pushed Kenya into a deeper state of worry. How would she cope?

"Excuse me", she stood in front of Gary and the officers, "I'm leaving for Jaia. Aguh tek a taxi guh ova suh and then mek Dom come pick me up when I get her".

"Take my car" he handed her the keys, "and update me on wherever you are". He pressed a kiss to her forehead.

Pulling off the scene, Kenya calls Domonic. He answers on the third ring. He blows a ring of smoke into the camera, eyes low and red.

"Ye b?" His voice was hoarse. He'd been crying.

"Hi baby, I'm going for Jaia at her cousins' place but I just wanna check in". She knew he wasn't okay, he'd just lost his closest friend.

"Me not even know" he told her truthfully, "deh one yah hot yuh fuck dawg".

"I'm so sorry baby" she stopped at the stop light, glancing at him. He took a sip of the clear liquid in the plastic cup, staring out in space. The sight made Kenya's heart clench, she couldn't imagine what he was going through. She sped off as soon as the light turned green.
