Chapter twenty

"You killed my parents!" The words rang in Jeongguk's ears. He stumbled back in shock. Taehyung's hand fell from his, and a stab of pain cut through his chest. He looked at the alpha, who was staring back at him with wide eyes.

The tensed silence in the room was cut off by the female omega who stepped in front of Jeongguk.

"No! My best friend would never. I know him better than anyone, and he would never harm someone without a reason." She defended him. Taehyung's face turned stoic, and he grabbed Jeongguk's hand again and pulled him to his side. Jeongguk exhaled in slight relief, but then Yoongi chuckled.

"You said you know him so well. How long has it been since you learned that he was the omega of Venus," he countered. Lisa's mouth opened and closed, unable to form words. "Come on, omega. You've known him all your childhood, but you never knew his true self. Have you even seen his wolf before this quest?" He mocked. Lisa gulped and slowly turned to look at her friend.

"No! I have not killed anyone. Lisa, don't listen to him. Tae, hyung, please." He pleaded, gripping his alpha's hand. Jeongguk's eyes started filling, and his lips quivered. He was getting accused of a murder he did not commit. Taehyung's eyes darkened seeing his omega's tears, and he turned to the warlock.

"I get that you lost your parents, but blaming their death on my omega, when he didn't even know them, is out of line. If you do not want to help us, just say that instead of spewing lies." He made sure all of his words were heard, and he glared at Yoongi. A relieved smile played on Jeongguk's lips, and he squeezed his hand.

A scoff left the pale man. "Your omega is the reason for so many deaths, including my parents. So it is only appropriate to say that he is a fucking murderer." The warlock spat.

"You're twisting words. His Highness is not at fault!" Seokjin said, taking a step forward as well. Hoseok opened his mouth to speak but Yoongi slammed his hands down on the table and screamed.

"I lost my parents because some alpha king wanted to bring this shit back to life!" He pointed at Jeongguk. "They lost their lives in the middle of that, only for this ungrateful, selfish and useless omega to be alive! My parents lost their lives for no reason!" He screamed. All of his words were a jab to the male omega's heart. A single tear rolled down his eyes.

"He is right." He mumbled before anyone could speak. They all looked at him and Taehyung began talking.

"No, Jeongguk -"

"He is right, hyung. My own mother died because of me. So many villages were massacred and so many lost their lives. He is right. I am a murderer." His lips quivered as he spoke, and tears kept falling. Taehyung reached out his arm to cup his face, but Jeongguk pulled away.

He harshly wiped his tears away and looked at the warlock. "You don't have to help us. I don't think I'll be able to save anyone, anyway. I really am just a useless omega." He muttered. Then he turned and walked off.

"Jeongguk!" Lisa called after him.

"Darling, wait!" Taehyung ran after him, leaving everyone there. Lisa's eyes teared up, and she moved to follow, but a hand stopped her. She turned to look at Seokjin, who gripped her hand but kept his eyes locked to the door.

"Let them," he muttered. Lisa wanted to protest, but Seokjin did not seem to let go, so she turned to the warlock.

"You are a heartless and ruthless person!" She pointed her free hand at him and spat out. The warlock rolled his eyes and sat down.

"Yoongi, seriously, why?" Hoseok asked, gloom written on his face. Lisa looked at Seokjin, who was still holding her arm, and hugged him. She cried silently on his chest while the man stood there frozen. Then, after a few seconds, he wrapped his arms around her as well.
