Chapter thirty six

The armies collided mid-way. The Blood Hunters had been ready for this attack, courtesy of Jimin. War cries turned into grunts and clashes of metal. Alphas and betas fought each other like there was no tomorrow. If the Blood Hunters got victory, then yes, there may not be a tomorrow.

Tomorrow night was the blood moon. They needed to get the key back and unlock the crown in order to stop the hunters from taking over Lupine. They had warlocks on their side. They could take out the essence of the crown with their powers.

Jeongguk suppressed a gasp when he was knocked from behind. He turned and striked the attacker with his sword. It was an alpha from the Blood Hunters. Jeongguk didn't stop to think. Rage consumed him. He fought the man with vigour. He sliced through his breastplate and deflected his attacks.

With a grunt, he brought down his sword on the man's chest. The man fell with a scream. With shock, Jeongguk realised that he had just taken someone's life. But he didn't feel guilty, no, it was something...else.

His moment of epiphany was short-lived as an alpha woman barreled towards him with a club. Exhaling out a curse, Jeongguk side stepped and brought the hilt of his sword down on her head. She staggered, he took the opportunity and slashed at her. The woman got over her stupor and screamed at him. He screamed back. The woman brought down her club on him, and he barely blocked it, manoeuvring to her side. He slashed the sword on her back, and she fell to the ground with a hiss. He then stabbed her from the back.

Jeongguk moved away from the area, fighting his way through. His eyes searched for Taehyung, while his body worked on his own, fighting and killing. He nearly got stabbed twice, and a sword had graced his side, which was now slightly bleeding.

The sun was dipping down when he found Taehyung. Jimin was nowhere in sight, and so were the others. The pure blood was in his wolf form, fighting some other alpha wolves. The large black beast moved with a tantalising speed, sniping and biting at the other wolves. One bite of his sharp canines sent them gasping on the floor. His blue eyes scanned the area with a glint similar to..insanity.

Jeongguk shifted as more alphas joined the circle of the pureblood. His wolf zipped through them, his fur a mix of golden and brown. He landed near V, and the alpha turned to him with a large smirk on his bloodied mouth. JK returned a grin of his own, and their wolves turned to the enemies.

With a howl, they charged. V's strength and mass rivalled the stealth and speed of the omega. Black and gold mixed in a ferocious dance as the other wolves around them dropped dead.

They fought, sniped, scratched, and bit their way through. In around a couple of minutes, the area was filled with dead bodies. The wolves had blood on their fur, and they turned to each other.

In a moment, they shifted back to their human form, and Taehyung rushed to his omega.

"Hey, love, are you okay?" His deep voice was laced with concern, as his tattooed hand reached up to caress the blood out of Jeongguk's cheek.

"Yeah, I'm alright. You?" Jeongguk asked, leaning into his touch. Taehyung sighed in relief and kissed his forehead.

"I'm great now that I saw you." He said, then his eyes fell on Jeongguk's side. "You're bleeding." His eyes darkened, and he stared at Jeongguk's golden ones.

"It's just a cut. I'm fine," He said and smiled at the elder. Before Taehyung could respond, a scream came from somewhere next to them. They turned their attention towards the source.

Yoongi stood on a pile of bodies. A green glow covered his hands as he moved them. An alpha on the floor writhed in pain. What the warlock didn't notice was a beta sneaking up behind him.
