The sun shines through my curtains as I slowly wake up, reading the time on my phone — 9:04am.

I'm meeting up with Lando today at 2pm like we had planned to do. We've been messaging nonstop and even FaceTime each other occasionally.

"Morning. Are you ready for today?"

"Kind of but not — if that makes any sense. I'm nervous as fuck. I've never hung out with an F1 driver on their own, let alone outside of the sport itself"

"You'll be fine. Where you meeting him to?"

"He's actually picking me up here and then he's taking me somewhere, where I don't know"

I take my medication and wait an hour to have something to eat. Once I was able to eat, I had some cereal, brushed my teeth and got ready. Thankfully I had showered yesterday so I could straighten my hair.

"Keep your location on at all times, so I can track you"

"It's on so you don't have to worry about that. How do I look?"

"You look amazing as always. What time is—"

There's a knock on the door, Lando was here. I was mentally excited and I didn't really want to show it just yet.

"Hi Lando"

"Hi. Is she here"

"Don't cause her any trouble, understood?"

"Got it"

"I'm here. Sorry about her, she can be overprotective when it comes to me. Anyway, Cat, you know who this is. Lando, this my best friend Cat — formal introduction"

"I'm the devil disguise"

I laugh at her and shake my head.

"Anyway, I love you and I'll see you later. Okay"

"Love you bitch"

We left the house and got into the car. The music was playing and we were chatting. Further into the journey, I instantly recognise where we were to.

"So I kinda had some help from my best friend Max with planning and I'm kind of hoping it goes to plan"

"He has heart of gold"

"Honestly, he's been there through thick and thin"

We come to stop and we in a cute green area of Glastonbury. It's out of the way and it shows off the best part of Glastonbury.

"Sorry it's not nice as you might have hoped but I thought it was cute for a first date"

"A first date, hmm. It's as cute and I love it. I've always wanted to go for a picnic, so this is perfect"

"Well, I'm glad you love it. So tell me about yourself?"

"Okay where do I even begin and how much of it do you wanna know"

"All of it, only if you want to share all of it"

"Okay, I hope you are ready for a whirlwind of a back story"

"Go for it, I'm all ears"

"Born March 13th 1999 in Carlisle. My parents got divorced when I was 4, then I moved to Bridgend, Wales with my mam. I lost my gramps, 5 days after I turned 9, was slightly abused at 12 by my mam but I forgive her, moved with my dad because of it. I lost my nan at 13, I was used for my body from the age of 14 right up until I was 17. Was sexually assaulted at the age of 17 and after I turned 18, I got with my now ex"

"I got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism just days before I turned 21 which was in 2020 and then finally got diagnosed with anxiety and depression in the August of 2020 and lost my dog in the September of that same year. I found out at the start of this year, I've got something called Chromosome 16 — and I now suspect I might have Autism"

"Oh my. You've gone through a lot, your entire life haven't you?"

"Oh yeah but there's nothing I would ever change about me. It's just a case of — if someone will accept me for how I am"

"Do you still see your dad?"

"Yeah, when I can. It can be difficult at times to try and see him. He has a lot of health problems with his joints and stuff and he's also got dementia as well"

"I am so sorry that you've got to go through all that"

"Honestly it's no problem. I've got Cat to help me through it, that's what best friends are for. Tell me more about yourself, other than the obvious"

"There's isn't much to tell other than the obvious, which you probably already know about"

"Surely there's got to be something about you that no one knows about"

"So, I was born in Southmead Hospital*. I know how to play the guitar as well as the drums and I can sing really good, I just don't show it often"

"You sing, that would be cool to see. A few others things I forgot got to mention as well — I am double jointed in my fingers and my elbows. One that is more complicated to explain — I can whistle by pulling the front of my bottom lip out. It's my party tricks that no one really knows"

"That's wicked, I'm impressed as fuck"

I blush at the compliment.

"You're cute when you blush"

We eat while joking about with each other, I'm having a blast. Why didn't I dump Tom's ass sooner? It was time for us to go home, he drops me off by the front door before giving me a kiss on my cheek. I return the favour by giving him a kiss on the cheek, I watch him blush and get flustered.

"Thank you for today, I had fun"

"Me too. I wanna do this again"

"Tell me a time and place and we'll see if we can make it work. Let me know when you get home safely"

"I will do, I'll see you soon"

Once the door was closed, Cat is stood by the sofa waiting for me to spill the beans about today.

"You're dying to say it. Spit it out"

"How was today. I need to know everything"

"So it was a date, and it was a picnic. We joked about a lot, I loved it. He even kissed me on the cheek, so I returned the favour. I'm hoping we do it again. He told me again that I was cute. There, you happy now"

"Yep. That's all I needed to know"

Lando texted me letting me know he got home safe and I smile feeling relieved.
