Winter was back against an icy corner. He couldn't go anywhere. Surrounding him were both of his parents, their eyes glowing bright white, illuminating the dark space around them and staring Winter down with their cold, unforgiving gaze, as they had always done his entire life.
"W- What do you guys want?" Winter stammered, pushing against the icy wall behind him as much as he could. His mother, Tundra, spoke first.
"We want you to come back, Winter. The Ice Kingdom needs you," She says coldly. The jewels in her scales shimmered, yet there was no light. Both of their royal stances towering over Winter's trembling body.
"Why do you want me back so bad? Didn't you want me gone? You wanted me to leave so badly, and now suddenly you want me to come back? No chance!" Winter tried to sound confident.
"That wasn't an offer, it was a command. You don't talk back to your queen, stupid child, did we teach you nothing?" Tundra barked, making Winter cower back.
"I- I'm not going back! No matter what you guys say!" Winter stood his ground.
Tundra snorted. "Maybe this will make you come back."
Without breaking eye contact, she reached back and threw something at Winter. It was Qibli's severed head. Winter nearly threw up on spot.
"You- you didn't... No, no!" Winter shouted, covering his eyes with his talons.
"There's nothing you can do. You have to come back now that you have no boyfriend~" Tundra said wickedly.
"No, no, no, no! This can't be happening!" Winter shouted. His father, Narwhal, finally spoke.
"Wake up, Winter, everything will be alright," He said in a surprisingly caring tone. They suddenly started approaching him, reaching their evil claws out.
"NO! GET YOUR FUCKING CLAWS OFF OF ME!" Winter swiped at their talons, making contact and drawing blood. Only Narwhal screamed, but not in his own voice.
"OW, WINTER WAKE UP!!" Winter suddenly crashed onto a hardwood floor, in the comfort of his own home. That was only a dream, and Winter was breathing heavily, still shook about what happened. He turned his head and saw Qibli looking down at him from the bed, looking concerned.
"Heh, um- sorry! I couldn't wake you up any other way..." Winter notices the slash marks on Qibli's talon, dripping fresh blood onto the floor. Winter got up and realized he messed up.
"Oh my god... I'm sorry Qibli! I- I don't know what happened I- I-" Winter was interrupted by Qibli's bloody talon on his shoulder.
"Hey, it's okay," He gave a tired smile. "Did you have that dream again?"
Winter nodded, avoiding eye contact, still feeling bad about what he did to him. Qibli sighed.
"Man, that's really got you in a chokehold, huh? Usually it never gets that bad... what happened this time?" Qibli asked as some of the blood from his talon spilled onto Winter. Winter explained the dream to him, Qibli looking shocked.
"Wow, they only keep getting worse," Qibli observed. "I'm sorry this keeps happening to you, Winter. I wish I could do something about it..."
Winter did nothing but stare at the ground.
"Well, since it's about to be morning, might as well get ready for the day, right?" Qibli trotted out of the room, leaving Winter alone with his thoughts. How could Qibli stay so positive even after he slashed him? Winter still felt utterly terrible about the incident and was scared to leave the room. However, after a while, he decided that going out was better than moping in his room, so he finally open the door and leave the room.
Meanwhile, Qibli was in the bathroom, washing his injured talons. Winter had cut deeper than Qibli had thought, since the water could easily be mistaken for some sort of juice. After washing all of the excess blood, he grabbed some gauze from their cupboard and wrapped his talon in it until the wound was completely covered. Qibli was quite surprised how Winter acted during his dream. Why was he having dreams about his parents now of all times? And why was it so consistent? It was been happening everyday for a week and a half now, and every time Qibli has had to wake him up to snap him out of it. Usually he would just be hyperventilating or at worse thrashing around, but he never attacked like that before. Qibli assumed that it was only going to get worse from here, and he needed to fix it. But how was he going to fix something that wasn't his to control? Maybe he would get some medicine from the store today and see if that helps.
Qibli's train of thought was interrupted by Winter barging in, looking very tired.
"Hey! You okay, man?" Qibli asked.
"I guess... I'm really sorry Qibli, I truly didn't mean to attack you like that..."
"It's okay Winter! I forgive you. Accidents happen, you know? Trust me, it's going to take a lot more than that for me to truly be hurt," Qibli smiled at Winter, walking closer and wrapping his arms around his neck. "So ready to start the day, love?"
Winter smiled and hugged back. "Yeah, I suppose I am."
Qibli pulled him closer and kissed him, Winter returning it with equal passion. They shared this for a few moments, moaning softly into each other's mouths. Qibli eventually pulled back, letting go of Winter.
"I think I should be the one to go to the store today, since you seem to have a lot less energy. I'll see you later, love." Qibli brushed Winter's head with his hand and walked out of the bathroom with Winter following.
"Later, Qibli, I love you," Winter called after him as Qibli was heading out the front door.
"Love you too, Winter." Qibli then flew off the doorstep, flying away to the market.
