I wake up, and I'm in the dark void. "Oh, for god sake, this is getting old," I think.

"Oh, James, it seems you can't resist my pull," the antagonist's voice echoes, a hint of amusement in its control.

"Yeah, because you're forcing me here every time I go to sleep," I say

"That's too bad you're stuck with me forever."

"Sounds like someone is lonely," I said

"I'm not lonely; I just love watching you suffer."

"You shut your mouth, or however you're talking to me," I say

"Sounds like someone is getting angry."

"I need to ask why are you talking to me like you know me?" I say

"You just have to remember."

"Remember what?" I say

"Your real family"

"Know what? If you're just going to mess with me, I'll just wake up, and I won't have to deal with your lies," I say

"Go ahead. I'll always be with you, and you can't escape me. One day, you'll see the truth."

"We'll see about that," I say

I force myself awake and see I have a text from Jack: "Hey James, I'm getting some food. Do you want to come?"

I pick up my phone and respond, "Yeah, sure, I'll be out in a few minutes."

"Cool, I'll see you soon," Jack texts.

I get off my bed and put on some decent clothes. Before I leave my room, I change back to my human form. I leave my room, and I see my mom about to leave. "James, I'm going to work. I'll see you later," Molly says, leaving the house.

I leave the house and see Jack standing outside. "Hey James, how's it going, buddy?" Jack says

"Good, I can't wait to get some food. I'm starving," I say

"You must be hungry like a wolf, then," Jack says, chuckling.

"Dude, that was bad, and you know it," I say

"Sorry, it was there. I had to," Jack says

"Anyway, I need to talk to you about something," I say

"Can it wait? Let's get there first before we talk," Jack says

"Yeah, sure. Where are we going?" I say

"One of my friends, Joe, runs a burger place. I've been there a few times. It's delicious," Jack says

"Sounds good. I can't wait," I say

After a few minutes of walking, we arrive at Joe's Burgers. "Here we are, the holy grail of burgers," Jack says

"It's all that?" I say

"Yeah, it is. Trust me, it's amazing," Jack says

"We'll see about that," I say

I notice the exact dark figure watching me from the sign. "Hey James, are you alright? What're you looking at?" Jack says

"Let's get inside. I'll explain when we sit down." I say

We head inside. "Hey Joe, my man, how's it going?" Jack says

"Jack, hey, it's been a while. Who's this?" Joe says

"This is my best friend, James. This is his first time here." Jack says

"It's nice to meet you," Joe says
