"I'm starving. Let's go to Joe's Burgers," Jack says
"Yeah, but we need to tread carefully. My cousins might be tailing us," I say, my voice laced with caution.
"You think they'd go that far?" Jack says, his voice tinged with suspicion
"Yeah, they would. They were always so overprotective of me; it used to drive me up the wall, "I say
"I'll keep an eye out for them," Jack says
"Yeah, but if they suspect something, I don't know if I can lie my way out of that," I say
"Yeah, let's just be very careful about what we talk about," Jack says
"Yeah, definitely," I say
We arrive at Joe's Burgers a few minutes later and head inside. Joe runs to us, "Jack, you won't believe what happened last night," Joe says
"Woah, Joe, slow down, man. What happened?" Jack says
"Alright, this is going to sound far-fetched, but this huge dragon thing came out from nowhere and burned part of the backyard down," Joe says
"That doesn't sound real at all," I say
"I know, but I know what I saw. A lot of other people saw it, too," Joe says
"I see. I'm sorry you went through that," Jack says
"Sorry for spilling all that on you guys. Let me get you guys a table," Joe says
Joe takes us to a table, and we sit down. "Thanks, Joe," I say
Joe hands us a menu. "I'll be back in a few minutes," Joe says, leaving.
"So we need to talk about earlier," Jack says
I notice my cousins walk in from the corner of my eye. "we can't. My cousins are close by," I say
They take a seat at a table not too far from us. "oh, I see them," Jack says
"I must look through my father's lab when we're done here. Maybe I'll find something to give me some closure," I say
"Are you sure this won't trigger you in any way like earlier?" Jack says
"Dude, no, of course not. I saw you getting hurt, which triggered, you know what," I say.
"Yeah, maybe, but you could control it with some practice," Jack says
"Maybe if you're willing to help me?" I say
"Of course, man, I'll help you," Jack says
"Alright, glad you're on my side," I say
"Yeah, same here," Jack says
Joe brings our food over. "Here you go, enjoy," Joe says, setting our food down, and he walks away.
"Alright, time to dig in. I'm starving," I say, eating my burger.
"Yeah, same. It's still good even when we ate it a day ago," Jack says
"Yeah, I agree with that," I say
We finish our food, and Joe brings us the bill. "Can you get this, James? I left my cash at home," Jack says
"Yeah, sure," I say, paying the bill.
"Now let's get out of here," Jack says
We leave the restaurant, and we head toward my house
