"but, much much worse, it's becoming clear, why he never wanted to leave that evangelion alone, and he has at least two of them" allura said

"why is he crying out every time he gets hit" lance asked

"he feels everything his evangelion does" F responded that caused them all to flinch

"how long has he been piloting that thing" hunk asked

"since he was fourteen years old" F said, causing them to look horrified at that, as allura covered her mouth

"who's bright idea was it to put him in something like that" pidge asked

"the people who built it, led by his father" F said

"his own father" allura muttered in shock, that earned new respect from lance

"then he is one of us, from an alternate universe or not, a lion has chosen him" lance said, the group agreed with that sentiment

"it seems their all targeting the chest and head" keith said

"they are trying to knock him unconscious many of our fleet have taken notice of the battle once shinji is unconscious they will move in to recover him" faelyn said

"that barrier is what's keeping him in the fight" pidge said, what happened next shocked them further as EVA unit-01 was attacked from behind by their unit-01, a moment later they were being hailed from their castle to see daniel

"guys, the lions have left on their own" daniel said worriedly

"don't worry, we see them, they are helping a friend, we'll explain later, prepare for increased training when we get back" keith said, they looked confused at that but nodded as the channel closed

"increased training" allura asked

"we can't exactly expect him to pilot an entire voltron all on his own" keith said

"fair point" allura said

he was able to take one voltron and the Mk.nicht and theEND, but he couldn't take on two voltrons, theEND, Mk.nicht and Mk.alles who had also joined the battle, not that shinji didn't try his level best to win the fight, in the end he was however knocked unconscious in the damaged EVA unit-01, with his synchronization score at 398.4% percent

shinji was then transferred to the medical of the castle of lions that shinji had rebuilt, he awoke to find allura waiting over him

"good morning, i see you are well" she said

"unfortunately, i assume my people pulled me from unit-01" i said

"pidge heard biomachine and no longer wanted anything to do with your EVA in fear of him accidently ending our world as a result" allura said

"well he isn't stupid, at least" i said as i sat up

"rest" she said but i bat her hand away

"you are not my doctor, i do not have one, not since Dr. akagi, may she rest in hell" i said

"i'd hope you'd listen to her azrael but it seems you are stubborn, as usual" pietro said

"it seems i am not allowed to die, so i might as well get back to work, i need to get the reports on the various ships in the fleet" i said

"no" allura said

"excuse me" i said

"your meeting your new at least temporary team, for your voltron" she said, i laughed, she paused at hearing him laugh

"your joking right, i attempted to rip it and yours apart, and you want me to pilot it now" i said

"you were lost in your grief" allura said

"you don't know the definition of the word, and i envy you of that, you have no idea the pain i have gone through, tell me was unit-01 destroyed" i asked

"it is being repaired by Dr. franxx it only sustained minor damages" allura said

"so they knew, or they learned very quickly one of the two" i said, to myself as i brushed past her heading to the doctor i held out my hand, he sighed but gave me the communicator, i activated it

"this is azrael, i am heading to the odyssey and will await all of the reports there" i said

"you are going to meet your team" she said

"don't you have your own duties to attend to as a princess" i asked

"i could do them if i knew that there was a second voltron i could rely on" she said

"you have a fleet of warships, heavily armed or heavily armored or both, you don't need to rely so heavily on voltron" i said

"like you relied on your evangelion" she asked, i laughed

"there is a difference, you see you hope to win, i hope to lose then i can say self-destruct was my only course of action, and face asuka in the afterlife with a smile, not that you would know that name, now if you excuse me depending on how long i have been unconscious the amount of paperwork i will need to do will likely be ungodly" i said and with that i walked out, she stood there stunned and completely frustrated, returning to her castle the group noticed she was alone

"i have never met anyone so utterly against piloting voltron before" allura said

"where is he" keith asked

"the odyssey, apparently his paperwork is more important then the defender of the universe, you three come with me" allura said pointing at the cadets, as she left again expecting them to follow which they did

"have you ever seen the princess so annoyed before" lance asked

"i haven't, let's go see, if the kids can bond with the other lions" keith said, as the other paladins followed the cadets and the princess to what was loving referred to as the floating castle, at least until they could find a better name for it, fortunately they were able to bond with the alternate lions, daniel was able to bond with red, vince with green, and larmina with blue, that would leave the yellow lion without a pilot but since they watched voltron fight with no pilots at all they didn't see any troubles with it

the paladins explained that the black lion had a pilot as well, but was a bit more hesitant to join the team, but they were optimistic that he would eventually join
