Engagement Ring

UN's POV

The sudden information on the current warsabouts of old countries really sent a tsunami of many emotions over I and my fellow organizations. With this new info, I immediately sent out a text to AU and BRICS for an emergency meeting at the UN building. The 4 of us got in our respective cars and broke many speeding laws to get to the meeting room. EU and I didn't say a word to each other on our car ride, both of us lost in thought of the possible danger of old countries coming into this world and manipulating our current, insane goveners, especially when they have so much information over all of us, some more than others though.

In the meeting room, BRICS and AU were waiting for us, both looking well kept and clean, "so, what's this about? WWIII? The end of the world? Taxes?" AU asked, "um, now we might sound bat shit insane, but y'know our little friend League?" NATO said, a pained smile on his face, "you mean the ghost dude who tried to kill us all?" BRICS asked, "yes," "Yeah, we remember him, what about him?" AU asked, "welllllll... he came by today... and gave us a little "warning", I guess, about old countries discovering a way into the living world and they're planning on coming to take over the world," I explained, AU and BRICS were silent for a moment, a long moment, but then AU says, "well, I mean, what damage could they actually do? They're dead, they'll have no power in our current governments, I bet they don't even know we exist, I don't think we should be that worried about it," she tried to reason, but I could see the sweat forming on her forehead, "now, you say that, but by the end of the month world War 3 breaks out and we're on the brink of distinction, and then UN, EU, BRICS, and NATO die like LON," ASEAN says, "oh fuck, you're right," BRICS mumbles, "ok, well, what can we do? Warn the countries? Hire a priest?" NATO asks, "there's a perfectly scientific explanation on how to solve this-" ASEAN starts, before he coukd say anything else, NATO cuts in, "I should slap the fuck out of you fir even saying that," "I think we should talk to Vatican, this seems more religious than scientific," I offered. "That's a good idea, but how, or what do we do? What exactly do we do to like, stop then from coming here? Technically they aren't here right now so we can't do an exorcism," BRICS added.

While the others talked about what to do, I noticed EU hadn't said a word since we got here, "EU? Are you alright?" I asked, stepping closer to him, "yeah, I'm fine, love, just, uh, thinking," he said, staring off into space, "thinking about what?" "Stuff," "that's not an answer," "Yes it is," "no its not," "Yes it is," "It's not though, it's vague and isn't helpful," "you're cute when you're mad, birdy," I huffed and turned away, crossing my arms. I felt a pair of hands wrap around me and pull me close, EU kissed my head and gently patted my wings, "my love, are you mad?" He teased, "yes... I want to know what you're thinking about..." I huffed, "I was just thinking about my ancestors, but it's fine, they can't do anything, like AU said," EU kissed the side of my face and rested his head on my shoulder. "Gays," AU snickered, "get a room already," BRICS mumbled, "sorry, we were just talking," I answered, "sounded more like an argument over what EU was thinking and if 'stuff' is a valid answer," NATO mocked, "shut up NATO," EU scoffed.

We finished off the meeting and decided on just waiting it out until a country reports something. We've decided that the dead countries won't be able to do anything as they would have to go through their children and grandchildren and the public before controlling the government, so we shouldn't worry. EU decided that we should go to the mall together to get our minds off things, which was odd, but I went along because I needed to get Snowflake a new collar and the pet store was in the mall. We got some shopping done and EU was really insistent in going to the jeweler store, I wanted to ask him why but he just brushed it off with, "I want to know what type of jewelry you like so I'll know what to get you for your birthday and Christmas," which I didn't believe as he already knows what I like, but I brushed it off, I like looking at the beautiful gems.

After a but of looking at the bracelets and necklaces, we somehow ended up in the ring section, looking at expensive diamond and saphire rings. "Hey baby, I'm going to the bathroom real quick, you just keep looking around here," EU says, he kisses the side of my head before walking out of the store. One of the works came up to me and we started talking about the rings, eventually she says, "what's your ring size? I believe the bird of paradise would look great on you," I thought for a moment and realized I didn't know my ring size, "oh, uh, I don't know actually, I've never really had my ring size checked," I replied, "that's no problem, I can get the sizer and we can figure out your size," while the lady went to get the sizer, EU came back and stood next to me, "I'm back hun, did you see anything you liked?" He asked, "a few, one of the workers is going to check my ring size, she said this one called bird of paradise would look nice on me," I answered, EU nodded and stood by me as the lady measured my ring finger. "Uhhh, 8.5! Perfect, we should have that size in almost every ring in the store, so pick out anything you like and I can get the right size for you, I'll just be over here behind the counter if you need me, I'll be getting you that burden of paradise to look at," the lady walked behind the counter and started sorting through rings in a cabinet.

"So, do you see anything you like hun? Anything pop out to you?" EU asked, a hand on my waist, I scanned over the rings, none really catching my eye, "I don't know, I like the silver bands, but not the thick ones, oh, and I like the ones that look like flowers," EU nodded and patted my back.

~Time Skip to Tomorrow~

EU's POV

I sat at a bar with both WHO and NATO, I had told UN I had a meeting with the European countries, but actually I was meeting up with his brothers to find out how he would like to be proposed to. I picked out a nice ring for him and now I just needed a nice proposal, something meaningful.

"Have you thought of taking him on a vacation? I've seen a ton of people taking their partners on fancy vacations and proposing," NATO suggested, taking a sip of his mostly vodka cocktail, "no, that's boring, I want this to be perfect, something memorable, something that UN will remember and love forever," I replied, starting to stare off into space as I thought of UN, my wholesome thoughts very quickly turning unholy. Thankfully, ASEAN broke my thought process with, "why not recreate your first date? That's "romantic" and "memorable", or something, I don't know, I'm a drunk, aroace scientist," I look at ASEAN, I didn't invite him, what the hell? "When the hell did you get here?" I asked, "NATO invited me, I'm his "emotional support scientist" because he hates talking about wedding stuff," "shut up ASEAN," NATO glared at him.

I thought about what ASEAN had said for a moment, it was a good idea, a really good idea. "You know what, that doesn't sound bad, I could take him to the summit, have us wear the same outfits we wore last year, have the same dinner, and then while we stand on the summit, I'll have him shut his eyes and then propose," I said, "ok, do that, can I go now? I'd love to help plan a proposal for my brother, but I have a job that I actively need to be at, so can I go?" WHO asked, "yeah, you can go, it's been an hour, I should probably head home before UN gets suspicious," the four of us stood up and head out together after paying out tab.

I got in my car and drove home, parking in the drive way before smoothing out my suit and walking into the house. Cloud and Snowflake didn't come to me to greet me, which didn't make sense because they always came to greet us when we came home. I walked into the living room to see UN sitting on the couch, Cloud next to him and Snowflake in his lap. UN gently stroked Snowflakes fur as he looked at me, "care to explain why I say you at the bar with my brothers and ASEAN instead of at a meeting?"
