Friday 5pm ( 1 week later)
Winter's P.O.V.
A week had passed and the longer we stayed at Rina's house the more I realised how different our lives were. Things here were just so much more glamorous and luxurious compared to my usual lifestyle at home.
Rina and I had been dating for a week and in that time we had spent most of it together either here, at the academy or leisurely at the mall. It had been a long time since I'd seen her smile so much and it was an amazing feeling be apart of the reason for making her so happy.
As the weekend began, she had accompanied me to my piano lesson after classes ended before we walked back to her house, hand in hand. The sun was still shining through the arched window as we made our way into the lounge where we saw Jennie cooking across in the nearby kitchen. The tasty aroma of her cooking was always a welcome greeting.
Rina halted by the staircase, leaving me confused. "Wait here, I got you a gift."
It had been like this all week, waking up to fresh flowers beside my bedside and finding small presents left in my bag and locker. "Another? Rina you really don't need to keep buying me presents-"
"Too late I already did! I'm gonna go gift wrap it, I won't be long!" She replied enthusiastically with love-stuck puppy eyes before kissing my lips and then turning to rush up the stairs.
I sat on the couch waiting whilst smiling at Kuma who was enjoying his own company. Time seemed to go slowly as I boredly got up and wandered across to the kitchen where Jennie was. There was music from the stereo in the background as she was cooking leisurely in her own world.
We hadn't spoken much in the past few days or ever in fact but I wanted to make an effort. Lisa was in the home gym and my mom and Eomma had gone to our house to check on the redecorating progress so I felt this was as good a time as any to have a conversation with her.
I stood awkwardly beside the island in the center of the kitchen, watching as she looked through ingredients in the refrigerator. "Hi Mrs. Kim."
"Winter." She said with no lace of emotion as she continued to place several ingredients on the counter.
"What are you doing?" I asked in curiosity, leaning across the countertop.
I could sense her rolling her eyes at the question. "Preparing dinner and answering self explanatory questions."
It seemed she didn't like engaging in conversation with anyone other than Lisa and Rina. Even at the company, the conversations I'd heard her have were often cold like this but still I continued to make an effort. "What are you making?"
"I'm preparing salmon with kimchi fried rice." She muttered, adjusting the timer on the clock.
"Oh..." Salmon wasn't exactly a dish I particularly enjoyed.
