May Queen's Sister

Part Eleven

Dani watched as Anne left and wondered if she should go with her. She knew that Anne wouldn't want her to miss out on anything this trip would offer but Dani felt the guilt still creep in.

 Anne had been her rock for her whole life, protecting her but Dani shouldn't need her protection anymore. She should be able to protect Anne, look after her without Anne needing to ask.

Pelle watched Anne leave and couldn't help but feel guilty knowing it was because of him that she was unwell. Though, it was only for a fleeting moment as he turned his gaze upon the rest of his group.

Out of the four other members; only Dani, Anne's sister showed concern the other three focused on the show in front of them. Engrossed with the music and the presentation of the floral garland crowns that have been brought towards the elders sitting on the stage.

Pelle resisted the urge to scoff at the men, they claimed to be Anne's closest friends but couldn't be bothered to show concern for the sick women for more then a few seconds.

Every second he spent with them only hardened his resolve to keep Anna with him. He knew that she would be angry with him but in time would see reason. His family would love her and would help her thrive. Though he just had to worry about Dani.

Anne would never leave her sister behind, but if Dani wanted to stay...

Siv had finished her speech, the group raised their glasses mirroring the movements of everyone else. But after they watch as a teenage boy walk up to the platform carrying two torches. Then the two elders with the biggest floral crowns, rose from their seats and descended from the stage.

The group watches as Siv hands the torches to the elders, speaking in Swedish with only Pelle being able to understand.

Dani watches in fascination as the dance the younger members of the community seem to be doing. She shimmied to the music as she sat with her "friends" who were also joined by Ingemar and his friends Connie and Simon. 

"You guys should join" Pelle suggests,

Dani chuckles, "oh, no, I'm too scared."

Pelle raises his eyebrow, "that's not what Anne has told me, she's even showed me the videos of you guys going square dancing."

"Well that's different," Dani replies "Anne has a way of getting me out of my comfort zone without me feeling pressure. Probably because she doesn't do it often so it doesn't lose its effect."

Dani smiled as she thought back on the last time she and Anne went out dancing. Anne had found a free salsa dancing class that was taking place and had begged Dani to join her. At first Dani had thought it was because Pelle wasn't available but that wasn't the case. Apparently she had been Anne's first choice telling her,

"We've already learned how to do square, line, tap and disco together, it would be wrong adding to the list with someone else."

Dani's smile faded though as she saw Christian stare at one of the girls dancing, not just staring but even going in the dance. Josh did too but that wasn't to much of a shock but Christian well that was completely different.

Dani was snapped out of her thoughts as she heard Belle speak.

"Hey. Happy Birthday: he said, handing her a drawing.

A drawing of herself to be exact.

"Oh my gosh, Pelle."

"It's just something I do for birthday's. Anne had asked if I could make you one as she thought you would like it."

"She was right" Dani told him, "thank you so much, Christian forgot so this is amazing."

"Oh" Pelle droned.

"No. No, no, no, I forgot to remind him and it's not his fault, it's... Please don't tell Anne, she's try and kick his ass and it'll be this whole thing..."

Pelle interrupts her, "Dani, it's alright. I won't tell her"

"Thank you." Dani tells him, "I'm going to go check on Anne, see if she's feeling better."

Anne felt something touch her shoulder and proceed to softly shake her.

"Anne" the person whispered softly.

"Hmm" Anne murmured as she turned her head to see the person being Dani.

"Hey, sorry for waking you"

"It's okay" Anne told her as she sat up on the bead. "Are you ok?"

Dani nods her head, "I was just seeing if you're alright"

"I'm fine"

"you sure? you know you don't need to pretend for my sake right?"

"I know but I promise you I'm all good, morning sickness has just been a bitch."

Dani as she gave Anne a smile before leaning into to give her a hug.

"Well if that's the case, do you want to join back up with the rest of us?"

"not really" Anne thought.

"Sure!"
