What Is Life?

Third Person

Alessandro led Edward to the kitchen, where they sat down at the island, surrounded by the warm glow of the pendant lights. "Coffee or whiskey?" Alessandro asked, his eyes hinting at the long night ahead.

"Coffee, please," Edward replied, his voice serious. "We've got a lot to discuss, mate."

Alessandro nodded, pouring two cups of steaming coffee. "I know. I've made a decision tonight, Edward. I'm going to divorce Cassie."

Edward's eyes narrowed. "Good riddance, Cassie is a nightmare anyway! But don't worry, Alessandro, we'll get through this together. And before we start the divorce proceedings, we'll get that DNA test done first, just to be sure."

Alessandro's face contorted in anguish. "It's not just that, Edward. I'm afraid of what she'll do during the divorce. You know she's a bitter bitch, Edward. If it wasn't for those damn kids, I would have put a bullet between her eyes already. She's a poison, and I need to protect them from her toxicity."

Edward placed a hand on Alessandro's shoulder. "We'll face this together, And we'll protect Heaven from all this mess, too. She doesn't deserve to be dragged into this."

Alessandro's eyes dropped, his voice barely above a whisper. "I know. I will keep her safe, Edward. I just want Cassie out of my fucking life."

As they sipped their coffee, the storm outside seemed to rage on, but in the warm kitchen, Alessandro felt a glimmer of hope, knowing he had Edward by his side to face the challenges ahead.

Alessandro and Edward said they're good nights, and Alessandro returned to his bedroom with Heaven close to his chest. Edward however wishes he had one of his little flings to play with during the storm.

The next morning, the storm had gotten worse. Alessandro got up and decided to make Heaven breakfast in bed. He slowly got up out of the bedroom, trying not to wake her. Edward was already in the kitchen, drinking his coffee and texting away on his phone.

"Morning, Edward," Alessandro greeted him, proceeding to make Heaven's breakfast.

"Morning, Alessandro. How's our little patient doing today?" Edward asked, eyeing the breakfast spread.

"She's still sleeping. I'm making her breakfast in bed," Alessandro replied, expertly flipping an pancakes.

Edward raised an eyebrow. "Wow, breakfast in bed? You're really pulling out all the stops to impress her, aren't you?"

Alessandro chuckled. "Guilty as charged, Edward. But honestly, I just want to make her feel special. She's been through a lot, and she deserves it."

Edward smirked. "Well, I'm sure she'll appreciate the effort. But let's get real, Alessandro. You're not exactly the breakfast-in-bed type. What's next? Are you going to start writing sonnets and wearing a tutu?"

Alessandro laughed walking off. "Hey, don't knock it till you try it, Edward. And besides, I think I'll stick to my day job."

Alessandro went back into his bedroom with Heaven's breakfast, not finding her there. He placed her food on the nightstand and checked his ensuite bathroom, finding her brushing her teeth. She was struggling to stand on her feet, and he quickly scooped her up, placing her on the counter. She let out a little squeak of surprise, not expecting him to pick her up, nor had she noticed he was there.
