Allura's POV:
"Welcome Prince Pedro and Princess Allura. You may being at the sound of the bell." Headmistress addresses us. I am nervous and what Pedro did is beyond inconsiderate and I can possibly fail. The bell rings and Pedro waits a few seconds before saying anything. "During our research we have found that our alliances have gone out of touch with the realities of their commoners." he goes on for the first six minutes while I try making a convincing closing speech in the little time left.
"Thank you Heads now Princess Allura will do the closing speech." And all eyes are on me and my heart is looking to escape my chest. "Instead of a closing statement we will ask you a question and you must answer in a span of a minute." Headmistress announces, I have been trying to prepare for the closing and now that is not what they expect of me. "Yes Headmistress." I answer.
"Princess Allura, although you seem like you could handle your alliances very much but why should they put their trust in you that what you say will indeed help secure their kingdoms success." I take a deep breath and the first thing that comes to mind is one thing that Lilly always tells me Touch them with emotion and play with your words and be passionate with delivery and you will never lose.
"When my father the king of Gatuk was starting of his kingdom he had to work tirelessly for them to trust him. He did not only want to rule over them but wanted them to think of him as an elder of a family. He worked hard to connect with them to know their struggles and he knew that without his subjects that he would be nothing. Though he is higher than them he must always know the realities of the people who are not as privileged. Today he is well known by many of you here and many aspire to be like him. Since I have seen it believe me I know what I am talking of, it would be in your benefit to trust me, you will succeed. And your kingdom shall be known." I conclude and there is just silence and after a while they applaud and I let out breath of relieve.
"Thank you Your Highnesses you may take your leave now." Headmistress dismiss us and we take our leave. "That was an amazing answer, you are to be proud of yourself." Pedro compliments but I will only feel proud after it is announced that we will be on to the next part of the competition. "Thank you. Oh from now on do not ever do what you did to us today ever again. I despise being unprepared." We were saved because I didn't need to close anything. "Noted. I have to get Ratchball practice I shall see you when I see you." He walks of to the field and I go to my chamber and head straight to bed peacefully because it is well deserved.
2 Days later
Today they will announce who are the 7 pairs are moving forward in the Seltor and I pray that I have made it through. "Allura are you ready to leave we have to be in head hall in about ten minutes." I button my gown and turn to Ruby showing her I am done. We head for the door and standing on the other side is Miguel. "Princesses don't you look stunning. I came to accompany both of you to head hall shall we?" He invites us with a smile. "We shall." I say and both Ruby and I take an arm and we walk towards the hall.
We arrive and almost everyone has arrived but some of the seniors have not arrived yet. "I am going to talk to Emma I will be back in a moment." Ruby leaves us and gets lost in the crowd. "Are you feeling nervous?" Miguel asks. "Of course I am. Aren't you?" More royals enter the hall. "No because I know I did my best and my parents are more focused on Pedro than me so I need not worry." It must be refreshing to not be seen by your parents. "I promise it is really hard to not see you, you are quite a character." He laughs.
"Speaking of being seen I wanted to invite you to My Knights Dagger I will be competing it would mean a lot if you come and support me." I have heard he is one of the best with swords, but I have never seen him do what he talks most about. "I would love to see if you are as good as you say you are." I tease. "Great then I am sure to win." The clinking of glass catches the halls attention and we all go quiet.
"Thank you. I shall not keep you long neither of us wants to be here right now. So I will announce the pair names and the last three will be our top three with the highest scores." She pulls a scroll. "Did I miss anything?" Pedro stands besides us. "No brother you have arrived just in time.". "Amy and France, Grace and Tom, Ben and Cara, Maximus and Daisy, Ruby and William, Miguel and Els." Miguel made it in second place. "See you are seen." what are the chances that we got first place one in a million. "And in first place we have Allura and Pedro." My heart stops beating and I hear Pedro and Miguel celebrating besides me and Ruby comes out of nowhere to hug me. We both celebrate.
"Alright silence please. Now those are the seven pairs who will be moving on. The charity part of the Seltor will be done in pairs but individually scored in the end. Dismissed." Everyone starts leaving the hall. "Well done baby sister Father will be proud." Samba hugs me.
"Thank you brother it means the world." I notice something in his hand. "Gems here is your pin you left it at the library a few days back I have been meaning to give it to you." Gems?? As in Ruby? Samba hands her the pin. I am confused since when are they so fond of each other to be in company of one another.
"Thank you Samba. Um Allura we should hand to the dining hall I am starving." She grabs me by the hand and we walk of with the boys following far behind us. We get our lunch and I am still going to ask about this friendship with my brother. "Ruby since when are you and my brother in company together?" She sips on her juice. "It isn't like that I was merely helping him with some leadership assignment and he didn't want anyone to know." She continues eating. "You kept it from your best friend for so many months. There must be something more although I hope not." She sighs.
"Just because I am a lady and he man you think it must involve love. Allura I am sure it is not like that for every person. Samba would never...he does not take interest in minority royalty you should know he is your brother after all." How could I forget. "I apologize." We continue eating and talking of the charities we might take interest in. "I would like to work in helping widows and their children. I am passionate of that since seeing what my mama went through." She would be perfect to speak on that all for her mother. "Definitely the right one for you. I will be working towards orphanage homes." Father has tried helping a lot with the issue in our kingdom but many kingdoms do not notice them.
Next Day
"Which charity will you be working on?" I ask while filling in the form in front of us. "One that helps those in farming and gardening." Gardening?? Pedro "Is there a problem with my choice?" he asks looking up from his form. "No... I never took you for a flowers and vegetable man." Very unexpected. "I am just interested in it. But my brother is a flowers man his past interest would know." He use to get her flowers?
"Was he so taken by her then?" I ask curious to know how serious he was about her. "Well it was arranged at first but then he looked invested in her but for some reason they separated." Did he do something to her? We haven't even spoken about this. And no newspaper had the clear reason for it so I never found out. "Will you be attending the Knights Dagger tonight?" Siblings support each other in everything right? "No I have to go to Hailstings Palace for something, Miguel was suppose to come along but he chose the Dagger instead." Oh. It mustn't be an important issue otherwise they would be no choice.
We handed in our forms, I had to get Samba to authorize mine first before that. The rest of the day I slept and before it got dark I started getting ready. A simple purple gown along with a blue coat. I loosen my hair today. I asked Samba to accompany me and he agreed after a lot of arguing about why he doesn't want me there unless I am attached to him by the hip.
It is crowded in the arena I have never been here before it is my first. It is divided between the Atar academy and ours. We take our seats in the front row. And everyone is conversating with one another. Mumbles were spread in full circulation of the arena. The lights at the bottom were blinding almost as they beamed on the swords scattered all over.
"Elena how are you?" Samba get on his feet to greet a brown skinned girl with long dark hair and she has the most beautiful eyes I have seen. "Samba fancy seeing you here. I haven't seen you since after I stopped seeing Miguel." Miguel? She is his past love interest. Why is she here?
