Chapter 14: Romancing me

Allura's POV:

"You are living with his Majesty Aden and I had to hear of the news though the paper how could you not inform me first?" There is a lot that I have to tell Ruby and just like her I was too surprised as she is now. "My father practically order that I and Lilly leave once we arrived there for Voilene. And now I am in the eyes of society. I am being whispered about by every other person I walk by, it is very overwhelming."

I had to plead with Ruby so that we may have lunch in our room today and the maids gladly bought it up so we can conversate in the comfort of our chamber. "So Lilly is acting as your chaperone is she not rather uncomfortable with the arrangement seeing as her and Aden have been romantic with each other?" I have thought of that but I do not care because it is obvious it does not affect Lilly.

"She will not speak of Aden at all and if I dare bring the topic up for conversation she will surely have my head because she is merely performing "kingdom duty"." I ring for the maids to come collect the dishes. "Enough about my life how was your Voilene, is your family alright?" We barely talk about her family Ruby has always kept to herself about family matters because she believes she is of a lower class even though that is far from true.

"Mother is doing well she is focused on her charities to keep her at bay. And Khosi is nearing my height is the splitting image of Father he even acts like him too. As for the rest of the family well they tolerate us as usually we only celebrate together to maintain face for the people of Taki that all." The sadness in her eyes is pinching. I know that if her father were alive things would not be as they are. After he passed she has never been the same but she tries everyday.

"I am quite sure your father is proud of you. You have kept your mother strong and you are always thinking of your brother's well being. I am sure everything will work out in the end as long as you have people who love you by your side." Glancing at the clock it is almost time for leadership class I hug her goodbye and take my leave. I arrive just in time and the whispers start as I walk in. "Allura make sure to drink your water we would not want you to be falling face flat in class." Someone from the back comments and the class erupts in laughter. "Quiet Ford." Cara intervenes...strange I wonder why she would do that.

Today's class was dedicated to helping us prepare to put our charity in motion. This part is individual work but we have to score together for work ethic. The end of class was long awaited after a long lecture. "Oh before I forget Miguel asked that you meet him in the stables as soon as you are not occupied." I hope Miguel has not told Pedro about the purpose of us meeting. "Thank you. I will head there now." I leave the room leaving him with Cara since it seems she had something to say to him since she stayed back.

I change into a more comfortable dress incase we might end up horse riding I inform the chamber guard of when I will return tomorrow so that my location will be known. I head for the stable and reach there in no longer than six minutes. "I am here." I announce to get his attention from his horse patting. "Good. Welcome to your first lesson." He seems to be in good spirit. "We will be having it here or am I mistaken?" We surely could be seen together or who knows the lies people will come up with.

"We will go on a ride to a secluded place away from where people might see us. Let me get Dash and we will ride together." He brings out his horse and we ride together. It is not a long journey just a few minutes away but still on academy grounds a open forest with a lake not far ahead. It seems secluded enough. "Right so we should start with giving the people what they want." Which is? "And what do they want exactly?" He chuckles at my question. "There is nothing amusing about this." I smack his shoulder which only makes him laugh more.

"I apologize, I just thought that after being a fan of romance books you would be an expert at what the people want. Okay so tell me when reading what do you look forward to when the leads interact with one another?" Books and reality are far apart but what do I know.
