Mason Pov:
It had been a few days since the ancient tree fell. While Pam was her usual self, blaming humans for their neglect of nature, Jess was just more determined than ever. Constantly planning protests, typing a small novel's worth of articles for her enviro-beat column, and volunteering at several shelters. When Leslie and I were walking down the school, posters of environmentally friendly establishments.
Leslie: Jeeze, looks like Cruz has finally lost it, huh?
Me: Yeah. I'm gonna go check on her.
Leslie: You do you. I'll tell Doris you said hi.
Leslie left and I made my way to the Daily Planetoid, where I entered to see Lois.
Lois: (Annoyed) What? Don't you have a news station to attend to?
Me: (Sarcastic) Funny. (Normal) Where's Jessica? I need to speak to her.
Lois: Over in the printing room. Seriously, it's starting to cost us money with the amount of paper she's printing.
I sigh and make my way to the printer room. When opening it, I saw the other girls trying to talk to Jessica.
Diana: Dear Jessica, don't you think you are going further from your intended goal?
Zee: Too far. It's too far.
Diana: My point still stands.
Jessica: With the ancient tree being knocked down, I need to work ten times as hard to make sure that people can understand. (Notices Mason) Mason, maybe you can help me get these issues out on your news channel.
She starts to continue to the printer, but I grab her and move her to a chair. Where I get face to face to her.
Me: Jess, look. You deserve a break. I know how much you care for the environment, but you cannot do that if you can't take care of yourself.
Jessica: I'm fine, Mason. I'm...
She starts getting woozy and nearly fainted. Diana and Zee managed to grab her before she fell and Babs went off to get some water.
Me: Jessica Cruz! Please, you need a break!
Jessica: No, I have to...okay, you're right. But what do you think we should do?
Me: Well...how about a date?
Jessica stopped and looked at me.
Jessica: A date? With you? I mean...you are cute, but I didn't think...
Me: Jessica. You and the girls mean a lot to me. And I can't see you run around, stressing yourself out like this. So I want to take you out on a date. There's this movie that I know you'll enjoy. It's happening on Saturday. Come on. What do you say?
Jessica paused, her mind clearly conflicted with the offer. But she sighed and smiled at me. To which I smiled back.
Jessica: Okay. I will.
I hugged and kissed her cheek before leaving.
Time skip
As Saturday approached, I noticed Jessica getting calmer. She wasn't posting stuff about her Enviro-Beat column as much as before and looked like she had gotten some sleep. My other friends approached me.
Pam: Looks like someone's in a positive mood.
Me: Huh? Oh. Thanks.
Selina: The girls and I are going to go mail-boxing. Wanna come?
