陸 || Apple Slices

"... Please Hayakawa?" Y/N asked, looking at Aki as he sighed.

Y/N might as well have been begging on her knees for him to let this go and it was humiliating. 

What else was she going to do? 

She felt responsible for what happened and she didn't want both Denji and Power to be exterminated because of her dumb ass.

"Why can't you just tell Miss Makima yourself?"

"Because you've been around longer and I'm sure she'll side with you if you asked her to drop this."

"Look, L/N-"

"I know you don't agree with me, but think about it... It would be a shame if two powerful fiends were destroyed because I let them save a caged up cat." Y/N added, hoping to get him to side with her. She knew that she wouldn't get anywhere with him by telling him how much she wanted them to live, so she opted to talk as if they were just strong tools at their disposal.

Aki sighed again, rolling his neck a bit before looking at the hospital. 

Both Power and Denji had been placed there, Power was unharmed so she had just been put in cuffs while being watched by Himeno. 

From what Y/N heard, Denji was okay too, at least after he got a blood transfusion. The hole in his stomach had successfully healed and his hand had reattached to his forearm.

Aki had walked outside for a moment for a smoke break, Y/N following him since she apparently wanted to talk to him but now he feels conflicted about it. 

Not only that, she tried to bribe him right before her request by giving him a cup of coffee and he doesn't like how personal Y/N is taking this. 

The fact that she's going to him for help instead of Himeno also rang a bell, her and Himeno were great friends. She had been acting really strange, maybe because of Denji but Aki's not sure. 

He couldn't tell anyone anything about Y/N because he didn't know her that well and yet she talked to him as if they were good friends and this started recently.

"If I dig deeper into this and report what I find to the higher ups, Denji and the blood fiend he's covering for will be disposed of, not only that but you'll get repercussions because you're vouching for them too." Aki plainly stated, not quite meeting her eye.

"I know... But it was my fault, I knew they were looking for the cat-"

"Did you know they were going outside their patrol area?"

"Well no, but-"

"This isn't about the cat anymore, everyone suspects that Power tried to kill Denji and it's not like he's off the hook either, so why are you trying to help them?"

Y/N stopped talking before looking up at the sky in thought. She had a feeling that Aki wouldn't have agreed to help them anyway, but she at least had to try, for her own sake if not theirs.

"You know the higher ups have been against forming unnecessary bonds." Aki added. He was trying his absolute best not to fall for whatever Y/N was trying to get him to do but he had to admit, she had a way about making him want to do stuff for her.

"You heard all of the people that wanted to thank Denji for fighting and protecting them, even the one that was mad at him for throwing his car while he was inside or something like that, don't you think it's good they don't get in trouble?"

"I'm not going to protect a couple of fiends from getting in trouble just because their strong."

"... Okay, that's alright." Y/N sighed, internally giving up. 

She was gonna have a hard time moving past this and it was because she knew it was her fault, then again, she did somehow form a strange bond with the two and she's only known Denji for a week.

She knew Power for like, two days... So it was definitely weird to say the least.

Aki stared for a bit, blowing a puff of smoke from his lungs. Maybe it was just from the unbothered expression she had that he knew was probably hiding her real emotion or maybe it was just how lenient she was but he felt compelled to actually do what she wanted now.

Aki finally groaned in annoyance, deciding to help the idiotic fiends but only because Y/N asked. 

Man, he had officially become a sucker for her, just like Himeno and everybody else.

"Is it okay if you can give Denji an apple?"

"...What?"

"... Uh..."

"..."

"... Could you give him an apple?"

"Why?" Aki questioned, involuntarily twitching at the thought of giving Denji literally anything.

"He asked for one earlier when we were taking him here, I think he'll take the news pretty okay as long as he has some food." Y/N replied with a yawn, scratching the back of her head before starting her walk towards the hospital again. 

For some reason he felt like he was going to regret helping Y/N because it would break his pride and mental sanity to help these annoying fiends for her or anyone for that matter.

"... Fine..."

"Thank you Hayakawa." Y/N smiled at him, just gaining a nod as he turned away to finish smoking in peace.

Man... He really just became a sucker for her, just like Himeno and everybody else. How annoying, it almost pissed him off how quickly he agreed to it.

-CHAINSAW MAN-

"So am I not innocent my liege?" Power complained, still going on for almost twenty minutes about how she did nothing wrong. 

Though Y/N could tell that it was obvious bullshit, she could also tell that Power had regretted whatever decision she made that caused this. 

That and the fact that they didn't actually have any evidence that Power did try to kill Denji was enough for Y/N to let it slide, at least temporarily.

"No one is saying that you aren't innocent, it's just for safety purposes." She yawns, leaning against the same wall that Himeno was on.

"Then since you're aware kindly remove these." Power adds, fighting her wrists against the cuffs.

"Really?" Himeno questions, looking at Power with that annoyed glare for like the fifth time for stating or asking the same thing they had already said no to.

"No can do, that's Hayakawa's call and he'll probably say no." You sigh, giving Power a head pat before sitting up off of the wall.

"Well I don't know, I totally think you tried to kill him." Himeno sighed, stretching a little bit before she turned to you. "Y'know you're way too sweet for someone who's gotten assaulted by the hands of fiends multiple times and I really don't trust little Miss. fiend here." She added, pointing at Power.

"Welp, I'm still alive and I have a boatload of work so I don't mind." Y/N smiled before deciding that it was time for her to leave the annoying hospital. 

After all she was busy, she had paperwork to file for days and then she could hopefully get at least a few hours of sleep in before tomorrow.

"Alright then, I'll see if I can walk with you back home when you're done with your paperwork okay? We gotta catch up anyway." She smiled.

"Okay, goodnight Himeno, goodnight Power." Y/N replied, waving at the two before walking away.

Hopefully Denji enjoyed those apples and for right now, you would put tomorrow's problems on a shelf in your mind for tomorrow. It was too tiring worrying about tomorrow today.
