Chapter 28

<Carolyn's POV>

"Lorraine wake up, my arm is starting to cramp!" I said and tried to wiggle my hand out of her grip.

"Hey!" She whined when I woke her up

"You sound like a flipping child!" I laughed and she stuck her tongue at me.

We heard a knock on the door. She stood up to try and open it, but she was so weak that she fell as soon as she stood up. I looked at her and then I went to open the door.

"Hey!" I said when I saw Ed.

"Hey, the kids are coming, Andrea stopped at the vending machine with them, what's she doing on the floor?" He said and then ran over to her and helped her up.

"Thank you" she said to him.

I smiled at them.

"I'll give you two some time alone, I'm going to find the girls, Ed text me when you're leaving." I said and he nodded.

I closed the door behind me and I looked for the girls, and I found them at the vending machine.

"Mommy!!" April shrieked and ran to me.

"Hi girls! I'm so sorry I couldn't make it, I wasn't feeling well!" I explained.

"It's good, where's Raine?" Violet asked.

"With Ed." I said, playing with Aprils curly hair.

"It's Nadia's second birthday in 2 days.." she reminded me.

"It's been 2 years already?" I asked and Andrea nodded.

My phone beeped, it was Ed.

"I'm going up to Raines room, you can come with if you want" I said and all the girls followed.

"Guess who's here!" I said as I opened the door.

"Daddy!" Judy shrieked and jumped on Ed. Nadia slowly tried to walk to Lorraine, balancing on everything because she couldn't walk yet.

"Hello my angel, how're you!" She asked as she picked her up onto the bed.

She didn't respond. Lorraine looked at her and tried again.

"Naaaaadiaaaa?" She said a bit louder.

Still nothing.

"Ed, she isn't responding?" She said, sounding worried.

Ed went to her and picked her up off the bed.

"Carolyn, please tap a spoon on a teacup next to Nadia's ear please" he asked and I did it.

She reacted and looked at the cup and at me and tried to smile.

"Lorraine, she's fine" I said and then Ed put her back on the bed, kissed Lorraine and then left.

"Raine, it's her birthday in 2 days.." Violet said, while Judy, Cindy and April were playing in a corner, Christine and Nancy were just talking on the couch and April was sitting on Carolyn's lap.

"Will you be out by then?" Andrea asked and she nodded.

"I'm leaving tonight.." She said and she picked up her laptop and started mailing out the invites for her party.

"Don't worry, I didn't forget Violet, I'm not stupid.." she said and then there was an awkward silence.

"I can't believe she's 2 already!" Violet said and picked her up and started swinging her around.

"I know..it seems like just yesterday, I was in this hospital..." she said and then I stared laughing hysterically.

"You know what's hilarious, you were her yesterday!" I managed to say through the laughter.

Then everyone started laughing.

"I cannot believe my baby is 24 months already!" She said and then Violet stopped swinging Nadia, and looked at Lorraine.

"Lorraine, she's 2, not 24 months, TWO" she said, holding the O.

"Ah pipe down. Anyway, what're we going to do for her party? Carolyn? Any ideas seeing as you've done 2nd birthday parties 5 times.." she asked and I laughed at her.

"Well, we normally play outside I mean 2 year olds love being outside! I suggest you get a bouncy house, and a kiddy pool, uhhh.. and food.." I suggested and she nodded.

"Hey! What about the big kids like us?" Nancy interrupted.

"You guys can swim in the big pool if you want" Lorraine said and she nodded.

"Can I invite Tate?" Violet asked, and Lorraine's facial expression went completely blank and she slowly turned her head to Violet.

"Fine, sorry for asking.." She said, and put her head down.

"Violet I'm not saying no, but you know how I feel about him.." she explained.

"Don't worry about it, it's fine!" Violet said.

"Let's have a dance competition!" Christine said and everyone nodded in agreement.

"Camilla would love that idea!" I said, and then I remembered that I still had to tell Lorraine what happened.

"Yeah, if she's ok.." Lorraine said, I think she already knew what happened seeing as she's psychic.

"What do you want on your cake, Nadia?" Lorraine said softly.

She didn't respond, she didn't even look at Lorraine.

"What the hell.." I said and I picked Nadia up from the bed.

"Nadia?" I said into her ear.

She still didn't respond until I clicked my fingers next to her ear.

"She's responding to clicking.." I said to Lorraine and she suggested I try to speak to her again.

"Nadiaaaaaaaaaaa" I said and held the A

She still didn't respond.
