Chapter 11

"So... what was that?"

"What was what?"

Dazai looked over his shoulder at you with a played confusion. You frowned at him.

"You know what I mean. Back at the cave. With Akutagawa and Higuchi. How do you know them?"

"Oh that. You know, I don't really know them..."

Chuuya joined your conversation with a scoff.

"As if you could fool anyone now, bastard. It's clearer than crystal that you know those two. Or at least Akutagawa. And also, I know that you know them because I know them too and I know that you know them."

Now it was your turn to look confused, only that you're confusion wasn't acted. Meanwhile, Dazai was chuckling at how Chuuya was basically talking his tongue out.

At the moment, you three were walking through the Moonflower Forest again, continuing your journey. You didn't know in which territory of which pack you were currently wandering through, but Dazai didn't tell you to be extra careful so you figured if it was pack turf, it wasn't that dangerous of a pack.

You spoke up again.

"Now how come that a Vampirehunter is acquainted with a Vampire?"

"Most Vampires weren't always Vampires. You should know that."

"So you knew Akutagawa before he was turned into one of my kin?"

Chuuya clicked his tongue.

"They weren't just mere acquaintences. Dazai was Akutagawa's mentor."

For a moment, what the redhead said didn't make sense to you. But then it clicked.

"So Akutagawa was training to become a Vampirehunter."

"Exactly", came it from Dazai as you followed behind him. He was navigating you through some giant rocks which were covered in moss and dirt.

"Then how did that happen?"

"Ever heard of the saying 'Curiousity killed the cat'?", Chuuya grumbled, while you dragged him forwards as you tried to catch up with Dazai.

"Good thing I'm a bat then, eh?"

You heard Dazai chuckle from a few steps in front of you.

"Aw, you two are already bickering like a married couple. Well, if you're that curious, I might tell you. But be warned, it's a long story."

"We have all night long."

A young man was sneaking through the streets of Yokohama, a crossbow made of dark wood, the heads of his arrows glistening silver in the light of the moon. His black coat was tightly wrapped around his body.

Slowly he made his way towards the house where his superior and mentor ordered him to head to. This was his first time leading a mission. Even though it was a small one, he still tried to execute everything he was taught until now perfectly. With him was his assigned partner Higuchi and his younger sister Gin, who was training to become a Vampirehunter as well.

Eventually, he reached his destination. The door was open. 'Damn it', he thought. 'The target is already here.'

With faster steps, he entered the house, still careful to make as little sound as possible. Higuchi was guarding the backdoor and Gin had entered the house through one of the windows on the roof, in case the vampire tried to flee. His heartbeat was speeding up by the second and he feared his target could hear it pumping blood through his body at a rapid pace.
