"...and then I saw this giant pine tree and I thought it would be a great idea to climb to the top but even before I could even reach the trunk, I was attacked by Ghouls. If it wasn't for that blonde Vampirehunter with glasses, I would have been dead by now!"

Dazai chuckled.

"Blonde Vampirehunter with glasses? Reminds me of someone I know."

With abored expression, you looked at the man and the girl walking in front of you. Aya has been telling Dazai about her adventures since she tried to shoot you. From what you have heard from her tellings. she ran away from home after her mother was killed by a vampire and was now planning to hunt your kin.

Somehow, you felt sorry for the ginger girl. Who wouldn't? Just because you're a vampire doesn't mean you're heartless. Losing someone so close to you was even hard for most vampires.

Chuuya had stayed quiet for the whole time being. He had maintained the same walking pace as you, making it easier to travel. If he he did it consciously or subconsciously you weren't sure of.

Morning was nearing. You had wandered through the forest the whole night and you could already see the tower tops of the Moon Castle. Your little group hurried to make it to the ruin before the sun would peak over the horizon.

Once you arrived, the forest was already flooded by gentle golden light.

"That was a close call...", you mumbled as you let yourself fall to the ground, dragging Chuuya down with you. He seemed like he wanted to complain at first but kept his mouth shut. Aya sat down as far away as possible from you. It was obvious that she didn't like you.

Dazai was the only one who didn't sit down. This man never seemed to rest.

Instead he gathered some wood for a small fire before he leaned against the old brick wall, yawning. Though you suspected that it was more of boredom than actual fatigue. And the fire was actually needed. Even you noticed how cold it must have been from the way the other members of your little company scooted closer and closer to the fire. Except for Dazai who still stood by the wall.

Chuuya started to take out some food so they could eat. You as well started to feel a slight nagging of hunger in your stomach but you tried to ignore it.

You all sat in silence for a while, them quietly eating. After that Aya slowly fell asleep due to wandering the whole night. She was without a doubt a tough little girl. Chuuya also dozed off and you decided that there would be no harm in closing your eyes as well. At least for a few minutes.

As you were surrounded by darkness, concentrating on the chirping of the birds that you, to be fair, never heard that often since you nocturnal, you could make out Chuuya's voice from beside you callig out to Dazai.

"Hey mackarel, don't you want some food?"

There was nothing but silence. As he didn't receive an answer, the redhead called out again.

"Mackarel...?"

Again no answer. Something felt off. Therefore, you opened your eyes and looked around. Chuuya still had his eyes closed but was unmistakenly awake. His brown haired partner was nowhere to be seen. Now you also called for him. His scent was also only faintly there anymore.

"Dazai...?"

Your calling woke up Aya, who grumbled quietly. Chuuya also opened his eyes now only to see that Dazai wasn't there anymore.

"Goddamnit!", he cursed, jumping to his feet, dragging you up with him. "Where did that bastard go?"

Aya was now as well fully up, looking for the brown haired man.
