"I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime, and I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine"

-Dandelions (Ruth B.)

The next morning, as I was heading to the library to study, walking in the hallways after breakfast. I heard someone call my name from behind. I turn around, seeing Blaise slowly approaching me. A part of me felt disappointed as the Slytherin boy I wanted to see wasn't there.

"Hi," I greeted Blaise with a kind smile.

Blaise waved shyly "Hi" He fiddled with his robe. He seemed to be hesitating to say something. I waited patiently for him to feel comfortable enough to say whatever he wanted to.

"Um, I was wondering if you had a date for the Yule Ball?" He asks without looking at me.

I shake my head "No, I don't"

Since when did Blaise like me?

He looks up at me smiling "Then can I ask you to be my date?"

I hesitated for a moment, I didn't want to reject him because he's a nice boy, but then at the same time I didn't have feelings for him, nor were we friends. I could imagine how awkward the night would be.

Before, I could give him an answer another voice was heard.

"She's going with me" I turned my head, seeing Cedric standing right behind me.

I narrow my eyes in confusion.

Huh? What is happening?

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know," Blaise says before running off.

I wanted to chase after him to clear the misunderstanding but that would mean I had to reject him. So I didn't.

I turn back to face Cedric "Since when was I going to the Yule ball with you?" I ask him in confusion.

"Well, I meant to ask you before... so will you go with me?" Cedric looked nervous asking me.

I nodded and smiled "Alright I'll go with you! But do you have no one else to go with?"

Cedric shakes his head "No, I don't want to go with anyone but you"

I was surprised by his words, my eyes widened in shock.

"I thought you would go with Malfoy, he is your boyfriend after all," He asks.

Fake boyfriend, but you don't need to know.

I shake my head "He hasn't asked me yet, besides, I'm sure he wouldn't mind, it would be weird for you to go alone since you're a contestant." I smile.

He grins "Right. I better head to class now. I'll see you later" he waves goodbye and quickly heads to his next lesson.

Something didn't sit right with me. I should be happy, Cedric asked me to be his date, which means he's somewhat interested in me. But why does it feel...wrong?

I head to the library and study, pushing those thoughts to the back of my mind.

Later that day, all fourth-year students were gathered in a large room. No one knew why we were all asked to come here. I found Luna and we sat down together.

"So did you talk to Xavier?" I asked her as soon as we found a seat.

"Yes, I accepted his proposal this morning" She blushed.

"That's great! You have a date now" I hugged her excitedly.

She bashfully tucked a strand of hair behind her ear "Oh right, Xavier mentioned Cedric was going to ask you to be his date. Did he ask you yet?"

I nodded.

"Did you say yes?"

I nod "About that, I should tell Draco I'm going with Cedric. I feel like he should know even if our relationship is fake."

Luna grins "Malfoy is going to be devastated"

I roll my eyes "I think it'll be quite the opposite."

Everyone becomes silent as Professor McGonagall makes her entrance.

"Welcome, fourth-year students. As you know, the Yule ball will take place in a week. In order to prepare all of you, today we'll give you ballroom dancing lessons." Professor McGonagall announces.

Some students squeal in joy, while others groan.

She gestures for us to quiet down "To demonstrate I will need a dance partner. Any volunteers?"

No one raised their hand, we all stared at the ground hoping she wouldn't choose us.

"Mr Weasley, could you come to the front?"

All heads turn towards Ron. Who was extremely flustered by the attention. He unwillingly walks to the front of the room.

A few chuckles could be heard in the crowd.

Professor McGonagall demonstrates how to dance with Ron. Who looked so uncomfortable. After the demonstration, we were asked to pair up to practice.

Someone beside me clears his throat. I turn around to see Draco standing beside me with an awkward expression.

"Will you dance with me?" He asks quietly.

I nodded "Sure" before we headed over to join everyone while holding his hand.

I place a hand on his shoulder, the other holding his hand, as he wraps an arm around my waist. I could feel my heart race from the warmth of his hand on my body. I stare at the ground and shift my focus to getting the dance steps correct.

One two three, two two three, three two three...

I could feel his eyes on me even without looking at him. As I spin, my gaze lands on his. We exchanged glances, his grey eyes gave me butterflies. I spin back into his arms, the way he held me close to him made me blush.

"I heard Cedric asked you to be his date," He said in a low voice while we danced.

"How did you-" Before I could answer he spun me around.

"Blaise," he says before coming close again.

"Oh, I'm sorry I should've told you earlier" I look at him apologetically.

He shakes his head "It doesn't matter. So our plan is working, huh?" he smirks.

My heart drops a little. Does he not care that I'm with Cedric? This is exactly what I expected but why am I... disappointed?

"Yeah," I smile to hide my disappointment.

He nods "I'm glad"

"Who are you going with?" I ask him.

"Probably Pansy, she's been asking me, I rejected her a few times but I'm sure she'll ask again."

I nod. My heart ached as I imagined Draco dancing with Pansy in his arms.

Draco seemed to be hesitating to say something, but the class was dismissed before those words could get out of his mouth. And he had walked away without saying another word. Leaving me standing, with mixed emotions.

Am I in love with Draco Malfoy?
