Chapter 16: Belle

It had been two weeks since the Yull ball, and I had been avoiding Draco since then. Why you may ask? It's because I think there's something wrong with me! Cedric is my crush, I'm supposed to like him, I'm supposed to want him more than I want Draco. So maybe if I avoid Draco those silly lustful feelings will go away. He's been my rival for 3 years, feelings don't just develop, so it must be a mistake.

Whenever I saw him I looked the other way, when he tried talking to me I pretended I had something to do. It was all working, until today. We had potions and Professor Snape decided to put us together for an experiment. Second time this year! I tried to keep my eyes on my work and ignore Draco as much as possible.

I was trying to get dried flowers for the potion on top of the shelves, but it was on the top shelf and it was too tall for me to reach. I jumped and tiptoed but it still didn't work. Suddenly, a hand reaches from behind me and grabs the jar. I spin around to find Draco holding onto the jar.

I reached out for the jar "Thank you" I saw politely.

But before I could grab it, he lifted the jar higher. "Why have you been avoiding me?" He asks.

I roll my eyes "I'm not avoiding you. Can I have the jar?" I reach for the jar but he lifts it even higher.

"You are avoiding me. Stop denying it."

I glare at him "I am not!" I grit my teeth and try to jump to reach it, but I end up losing balance and accidentally pushing Draco onto the ground with me. I landed on top of Draco, our faces were inches apart, one wrong move, and our lips would touch. I instantly jumped up away from him.

"I'm sorry," I say reaching out to help him stand up.

He simply scoffed in disbelief and handed me the jar, standing up on his own and refusing my help. He turned around to return to brew his potion leaving me with a pounding heart.

Finally class came to an end, and so did my misery. I packed my bag quickly before heading to the library to study. I found an empty table at the very back of the library so no one would distract me. As I dug through my bag for study materials, a figure appeared beside me, leaning against the bookshelf.

Draco stood in front towering over me, his icy grey eyes shooting me a cold glare. One hand on the bookshelf, the other in his pocket, with his legs crossed leaning against the bookshelf. I crossed my arms in front of my chest, staring at him. Neither of us spoke a word for a minute before I broke the silence.

"What do you want?" I roll my eyes.

He scoffs "What do I want? Is that the first thing you want to say to me after avoiding me for two weeks?"

"I did not!" I lie, I just couldn't tell him the truth.

"Beauty, I'm not stupid! Every time you see me you walk the other way or pretend you have something to do. You don't even spare me a glance!" He grips the bookshelf, his knuckles turning white.

Is he angry? That's just absurd why would he be?

"I've been busy, okay?" I say before ignoring him to take my textbooks out.

He scoffs before slamming his fist against my table.

I stare at him in disbelief "What is wrong with you?" I slightly raise my voice.

"What is wrong with me? It's you that's acting weird here! Just tell me the truth, please!" He looked sincere and worried about me.

"I'm fine! I'm just a little confused, so I'm trying to keep a distance before...It doesn't matter, just leave me alone!" I look away from him.

"I can't leave you alone," He says quietly.

I face him again "What?"

He stares intensely into my eyes "You've been ignoring me because we almost kissed right?"

I widen my eyes and blink without saying a word.

He runs his fingers through his blonde hair "I'll take that as a yes. If you're uncomfortable being with me because of that, I'll apologize. I'm sorry."

I stare at him, surprised that he's apologizing for making me uncomfortable.

He continues "But, I'm not going to apologize for almost kissing you."

He steps closer to me, I step back from him but my back hits the bookshelf.

"It wasn't a mistake." He places an arm on the bookshelf. My hands tightly grip the bookshelf.

"What do you mean?" I look away avoiding eye contact.

He lifts my chin meeting my gaze. "I wanted to kiss you, that night."

My walls were slowly broken down. My heart was pounding against my chest and those sparks I felt that night in the astronomy tower reemerged.

"You did?" I ask quietly.

He nods "And I still do" he whispers before leaning in.

When our lips touched it felt as if I was on fire. Closing my eyes, I let my walls fall, I didn't care about anything else. At this moment all I want is a Slytherin boy named Draco Malfoy. I slide my arms up his chest, wrapping them around his neck, and pulling him into an embrace. His arms tighten around my waist. He pushes me back against the wall. I tug against his tie and part my lips for his tongue to slide into my mouth. He suddenly lifts me and places me on the table.

We break the kiss momentarily to take a breath. I stare into his stormy eyes full of desire, lust, and desperation.

"I wanted this too, that night," I say breathlessly.

"Really?" He smirks.

I nod before tilting my head and leaning in again. I wrapped my legs around his waist, and both of my hands were in his hair. He caresses my thigh with one hand, the other on the nape of my neck. Our lips intertwined perfectly, the kiss was full of passion, desperation, and maybe even love.

As he pushed me down on the table, my hand slipped and pushed a book off the table. The sound of the heavy book hitting the floor snapped me out of the moment. I broke away from him. My face was flushed, my hair was frizzy, my lips were swollen and my heart was pounding. I noticed my lipstick stains were smudged all over his lips, his hair was messy and his tie was undone.

I quickly straightened my uniform and brushed out my hair. Then I quickly stuffed all my books into my bag and sprinted out of the library.

What have I done now?
