Chiron made them all go back to their cabins and said they'd talk about it in the morning. But, Theo was insistent about being told the truth. Chiron just shook his head and said all would be explained in the morning, which didn't help him sleep that night. He tossed and turned praying to Hypnos that he would just fall asleep already. When he did fall asleep, though, he wished he were awake.
"It's your fault, Theodore," his stepdad insisted with the same old angry eyes.
Whatever he did, the memory of his angry stepfather and hurt little brother never left him. He tried everything, he even considered bathing in the river Lethe, before deciding it was a stupid idea. Plus, he loved the memories of his mother, and wouldn't let them go just to get rid of one bad memory.
His dream shifted and he was suddenly standing in a field of flowers. His mother was standing in front of him, wearing her hospital scrubs. She still had her same beautiful curly brown hair and the same fierce eyes. It made him want to cry, seeing her there looking at him like he meant the whole world to her. He felt so stupidly guilty because he knew it was his fault she was gone.
"It's not your fault, Theo," she said, her smile not wavering in the slightest, "I do not blame you, and neither should you. Don't listen to those voices, Theodore."
He couldn't move or say anything, his dream limited him to his spot. He wanted nothing more than to reach out and hug her again. But, his mother bent down and picked a beautiful yellow flower. His mom stepped forward and he smelled her perfume she always used to wear, he never thought he would smell it again. She put the flower behind his ear and raised her hand to his cheek.
"Use it when the time feels right. I love you and it is not your fault Theodore, do not forget that."
His dream faded as he was awoken by Lee shaking him, telling him to hurry before the council started without them. His hand immediately went behind his ear, and he felt the yellow flower from his dream. He didn't understand how it got there, why it was there, or what it would do when the 'time felt right'. Theo shook his head and slipped the flower into his pocket as he went to get ready.
When Theo and Lee arrived, everyone was already there, sitting around a table. Theo sat between Lee and Percy. He noticed Argus was there too, which meant whatever was happening was extremely urgent.
"Luke must have known about the Labyrinth entrance," Annabeth stated, "He knew everything about camp." Theo had to agree with that, from the basics to the more extreme parts of camp, Luke knew it. He remembered when he first got there, it was Luke's second year, but he knew almost everything there was to know. He would ask about rules, Luke had an answer. He had a question about the gods, Luke had an answer, and so on.
Juniper cleared her throat, "That's what I was trying to say last night. That entrance has been there a long time. Luke used to use it."
Silena frowned, "You knew about the entrance and you didn't say anything?"
Juniper's face turned green, "I didn't know it was important, just a cave. I don't like yucky old caves." Theo nodded, he never did either, it was too dark and too damp. They also most likely held horrible monsters that Theo didn't want to know about.
"She has good taste," Grover said with a proud smile.
"I wouldn't have paid any attention except . . . well, it was Luke." She blushed a darker green as Theo tried holding in a snicker. Sure, Luke was hot, but that was before he realized he was probably straight, so he decided to get over him as fast as possible. Theo had no issue admitting it either, because everyone had a crush on Luke at some point.
