"Boot where were you?" Tim asks, handing me a coffee while they gear up. "We need to be ready for Rosalind." Me, Lucy, Tim, and Nolan line up at the back of the wall close to the van backing closer and closer to us. We hear Sergeants talking to each other, "Sergeant Grey?" The other asks, giving Dyers bathroom and food situation. All of us, including Grey weren't expecting this. Guess we don't want to get sued but this is still a lot. All of the officers were behind the glass door, watching us.
"Okay..what am I signing?" Ugh I roll my eyes but not enough for anyone to see. This is so stupid. "It's a sworn affidavit. That states that I, Sergeant Antonio Hernandez, California Department of Corrections, hereby transfer Prisoner 081316 to the custody of Sergeant Wade Grey of Los Angeles Police Department." Damn he really doesn't want to get sued.
Grey rolls his eyes and signs it, annoyed he moves away from Sergeant Hernandez and goes closer to the door where Rosalind is going to get moved. People come to the van doors and move down a ramp. She's in some restraining chair with a very serious look on her face. It sends chills on my back and gives me goosebumps. She looks around and smiles at me. They roll her in front of detective Armstrong.
"Hello, Nick." Everyone in the room has a very serious look on their face. It's so silent, no one wants to break it. "Rosalind." By the bad feeling in the air I think everyone's heart drops, at least mine did.
"Are you going to introduce me to your friends?" She says. No one wants to do it. "They got name tags. You got eyes." She only looks at Nick because of their past they have a only want to look at each other. You can tell she's liking it. "That's not very gracious Nick, after all that we've been through." Grey gets fed up with her and motions us to release her from her chair. We all do as told.
Nolan makes the mistake of taking the bait and when she stands she goes to fall, John catching her. "Thank you." He's going to regret that, I say in my mind. They look at each other and it takes a second before he releases her again, giving her a serious look.
"Do you want us to leave the chair?" Hernandez asks, Grey and him look at each other, "That requires more paper work-" He gets cut off from Grey, "No. She'll be covering rough terrain. She'll have to walk. Get her prepped, we're wheels up in 20." We nod and handcuff her again. We hear all the press even though the garage is closed.
What have I gotten myself into.
"Arms up, palms out." I say, searching her.
"They did this back at the prison." She knows she's getting on my nerves and trying to get a reaction out of me. I'm not going to let her though.
"And I'm doing it again." I fake a smile. as I hear her open her mouth a roll my eyes but no one can see it. "Thorough. I appreciate that." I pull her arm so they go at the back of her head, "I once pulled every tooth out of the head of a predatory anesthesiologist. It'd have easier to just take a hammer to him, but a person should take pride in their work. Don't you think Officer Nolan."
Nolan and Rosalind make eye contact. Nolan putting her arm back because it was leaning off of her head as I check closer to her foot. "Ma'am, if you're trying to shock me, you're in for a disappointment." Rosalind smiles, this is not good.
"Mm. I like a challenge. How about it? Should I take you to the good doctor's body first, Sean?" She smiles, she got a little reaction and she's going with it.
"As long as we get all three the order doesn't matter." He's gearing up for the hike. "Oh, Spoken like an uninspired civil servant." Sean smiles, "Sean's a yawn in a midrange suit. Only made this deal 'cause he's running for DA next year." She keeps giving glances at Nolan during the entire time of speaking. Her talking is getting kind of old.
"Hands up." I say finishing the conversation, placing a bullet proof vest over her head with Nolan. We have to concentrate because she doesn't have any cuffs on. "Expecting trouble?" She says, looking at me. "Preparing for it. Alright. We're good to go." I look at Sean.
"Alright. Let's move her out." He says while I double check the handcuffs.
We load the car, everyone in the back making sure she doesn't pull anything. The press follow a van, not the right one, but they're to stupid to realize it. We wait a minute until they're all gone and start going. We ratio in that we're all clear. "Copy that." Jackson says. I look up and see Rosalind eyeing me, this is going to be on hell of a ride.
