Tony caught up to Elaina just in time to find her standing in front of the elevator, her dainty finger forcefully jabbing at the poor floor button repeatedly almost like she was hoping it would make the lift come any faster. He witnessed her lift her arm and carelessly rub her face with the back of her forearm, most likely wiping away the tears that streamed down it. The closer he got to her, the clearer he could hear her angrily muttering to herself.

"Get me outta here!" she spat viciously, each word punctuated by a brutal jab at the button, her finger almost trembling with effort. "Hurry up you old, stupid, piece of-"

"Whoa there, I don't think that thing did anything wrong to you," he stated as he approached her cautiously. "You alright?"

Elaina stopped and slowly turned to face him, her eyes still faintly glowing a heated purple, a testament to the intensity of her surging emotions. "Do I look alright?"

"Is that a subjective question? Because I think you look great," he replied with a beaming full smile, reaching out and gently wiping away the tears, hoping to lighten her mood.

It didn't work.

Her face deadpanned as she shoved his hand away and wiped her face with rough, impatient swipes. Elaina then turned back, attacking the button with renewed fervor, her movements erratic and forceful.

"Okay, okay," he sighed, carefully pulling her finger away. "I'm not sure if you know this, but that does absolutely nada to speed it up,"

"I don't care, it makes me feel better," she said, ripping her finger from him and continuing her previous actions. "I just want to be gone before they show up,"

"And do what? Where do you plan on going?"

She shrugged curtly, the action sharp and quick. "No clue, but sure as hell not here," With all the bullshit that was going on, it seems that the universe finally took a moment to pity the girl because not even a second later they hear a ding, and the elevator doors slid open. "Finally,"

She marched inside and immediately pressed the Lobby button. Before the doors could shut on him, Tony quickly jumped into the elevator.

"Don't you think we should at least hear them out? " he attempted to reason.

"Nope," she responded while popping the 'p'.

Tony nodded. "Alright then," he stated, reaching out to the emergency stop button and pushing it, bringing the elevator to a standstill.

Her head whipped around. "What do you think you're doing?" she lashed out, her irritation rising with the incessant buzz echoing off the walls of the elevator walls.

"Saving you from yourself," he responded earnestly, having spun around so he was now leaning on the elevator's doors facing her with his arms crossed.

She scoffed at that. "Thanks, but no thanks. I don't need to be saved I need a drink,"

His expression went weary. "So you can end up like you were yesterday?" he replied, earning a vexed look from the girl. "Because it's a sight that I personally don't want to witness again,"

"Then look away," she retorted heatedly. "The world is ending, it really doesn't matter what we do,"

"So you think,"

"So I know," the girl retorted stubbornly "This is my third rodeo dealing with this end-of-the-world bullshit, Tony, and I have a feeling that my family's twisted 'luck' has finally tapped out this time around,"

"Maybe," he responded. "Or maybe this is the one where we win,"

"Or—hear me out on this—or this is the one where we all die,"
