DEFCON Year New Generation: Leigh Barton

Chapter 6

At night, Leigh and her squad were dispersed between the platoons of the US Marine infantry company for intelligence gathering purpose. Leigh accompanied the best rifle platoon while Darnell accompanied a scout platoon and LaRue was attached to the company HQ. Tores and Marquez accompanied two other platoons while Dunning was also attached to the HQ, supplementing all of the intelligence specialists in the company.

As the platoon she was assigned to was still sitting in armored trucks, Leigh put her night-vision goggles on before every driver turned the lights off, allowing for better night-vision capabilities to the platoon while also maintaining the element of surprise. Suddenly, the convoy came to a stop before Leigh and the rest of the Infantry Marines dismounted the vehicles and converged to their target while the vehicles left the area.

As they came in visual range of their target, Leigh and the infantry Marines saw their enemies had no night-vision device, meaning said enemies were defenseless against well-equiped American troops with night-vision equipment.

Taking advantage of this, Leigh and the other US Marines fired their kitted-out rifles before stacking at the gate and forcing the lock open. Leigh and two infantry Marines then ran into the courtyard before encountering two enemies, whom the Americans swiftly eliminated. Leigh then led the infantry Marines through the front door by advancing while using every possible cover. This proved to be the right decision since their enemies were all eliminated by the time the Americans reached the main door.

Leigh then front-kicked the door before one of the US infantry Marines tossed a stun grenade in the building. A split second after the grenade went off, Leigh and two fellow Marines breached into the building and shot two hostiles dead before the other US Marines went inside as well and killed another two hostiles. As the quartet secured the hallway, Leigh pointed her M4A1 carbine at the top of the stairs alongside another US Marine.

As she fired her rifle, two hostiles got shot dead by Leigh while the second US Marine killed another two hostile before Leigh and that Marine carefully went upstairs before encountering two tangos whom they quickly killed. As Leigh and a US Marine infantry squad scurried in the hallway, Leigh secured a door while yet another US Marine kicked it open before Leigh tossed a primed stun grenade inside. As the grenade went off, Leigh and three US Marines breached the room before killing five henchmen and capturing a man wearing a tuxedo.

One of the US Marines handcuffed the guy while Leigh took his phone and documents. She took a closer lood and found out the man was actually a high-ranking Chinese official who blindly supported pro-Russian extremist Trump. Feeling her blood boil, Leigh gathered the documents and signaled everyone to bring the guy to an American prison.

Leigh then saw she had fully packed her bag with useful intelligence and therefore left the room with other US Marines behind her before the platoon linked up with USMC JLTV guntrucks.
