DEFCON Year New Generation: Leigh Barton

Chapter 8

On the following morning, Leigh still had her headset onto her ears and was still eavesdropping on the converstations of Chinese officials, having slept as little as three hours last night, taking hundreds of notes to further know how China was trying to sabotage US Democracy for 2032 as it did in 2024. Leigh, who understood Chinese without speaking it, kept noting down sentences until one conversation caught her attention.

In the conversation, the man calling himself "The Voice" was saying an address in Wuhan where he wanted a meeting to be held with other people part of what they called a business meeting regarding the US, former two-term President Joe Biden and President Barnes. Leigh quickly understood the significance of the information and quickly but efficiently wrote it down before keeping her notes up to date with what she heard about said meeting. As the conversation stopped, Leigh smirked, knowing she had another important piece of a complex puzzle.

After hours of information gathering, Leigh and her squad had gathered the US Marines in a school circle before everyone found about the address Leigh had discovered during the eavesdropping operation. They now all knew where the not-so-secret meeting between The Voice and the other members of his circle would take place. And everyone had prepared for this snatch and grab operation, including Leigh and her squad, who were tasked with collecting intelligence that would later be analyzed and used as evidence against the culprits of the conspiracy aiming to give a poor image of President Barnes and prevent his 2032 reelection.

And everyone knew why they were doing this, as well as the main reason why they were putting the relations between the US and China in jeopardy. Leigh and the others were determined to give the US delegation and the American Government hard evidence of China's collusion with any group trying to destabilized the US from inside.
